The Devil Takes Shape

It’s what actually occurs in this scene, however, that actually shapes what the devil is in the bible. Beyond that, the symbolism isn’t scriptural alone, but cultural too. Notice that Yahweh relaxes in his dad’s office, which is pretty high above everyone, reading on the computer. Daryl, who is summoned to a meeting there, plays a part that subconsciously shapes Yahweh’s idea for the devil. In naming Daryl, I deliberately used a five letter name that began with D and ended with L, like the word Devil. So, Daryl, dressed in a fancy red suit, and with spiky red hair, enters the heavenly blue hued office from a contrasting, very warmly lit room, like the firelight of hell. The contrasting light emanating from Yahweh’s computer matches that of Daryl’s warmly lit room, to signify a connection with Yahweh’s perceptions. The red flying car outside actually has nothing to do with anything other than the fact that a lot of different flying cars zoom by outside for two reasons: Lucy flies by on her hover bike, which would be too coincidental unless it were a main route for these flying vehicles, and I wanted the additional movement in this scene.
