I can understand where you're coming from, and I won't judge. I disagree with the idea that she never came across as ignorant as to what was going on around her, though. Her overt kookiness and awful voice direction came across as one-dimensional to me, like she was some sort of singularity whose actions were not grounded in rational thought or social context (the scene where she finds her antler staff and dances around with it comes to mind). To put it simply, she wasn't a character who happened to be kooky in my eyes; she was "Kookiness: the character." Vanille, in the words of Kirk Lazarus: "went full r****d" for me.
2021-11-01 20:52:58 +0000 UTCTo be fair I always felt like Vanille had a LOT of kindness to mask sadness going on.. maybe this isn't accurate but it's how some people cope.. and that could be compounding her already more "childish" attitude . She was never presented as stupid or ignorant to what's going on around her either.
