Also I really hope Hollywood makes that call for Tactics soon.

Man I really thought Casen was gonna say the incinerator scene in Toy Story 3 when they all look at each other and accept death because that honestly was Incredibly impactful. I was crying on my 20th birthday in the theatre watching that scene. The trolls/train scene is pretty good too though.

In regards to your discussion on the treatment of Nivellen in the Witcher S2, I think that society as a whole is not yet ready for a nuanced discussion on the topic. Due to, as you said, the prevalence of the issue and the fact that so many scandals have recently come forth (especially from places of power): there is a lot of understandable anger towards both the widespread harm and decades of injustice. To add to this, right-wing movements are rising up in defence of the perpetrators. The book by contrast was written in a very different time and catered towards a much smaller audience. Right now, however, much needs to be resolved and reformed within our own society before the any more nuanced discussion on sexual violence can be addressed in main stream culture.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I rememebr Mike wants to remake the Final Fantasy retrospective videos, all the way from FFI to FFXV. I don't remember if XI and XIV are included.

Hi, i've been out of touch recently. Can anyone enlighten me on the progress of the remake of the Final Fantasy retrospective, ie is there any estimated release date?

No worries! Looking forward to the discussion!

Chris

Sorry about that, Chris! I have noticed that Patreon does have an error where comments get deleted before I can ever see them. Vagrant Story did end up winning so we'll make sure to discuss this during that series. I really do think it would work in a Soulsborne format!

I promise that if you were to do a series breaking down Star Trek TNG, DS9, or ENT, I would triple my monthly donation (if you allow for such a larger donation). Star Trek is my only greater fiction love than FF7.

Oh, and let me add that if they did rework the combat to be an action RPG, they should absolutely integrate unique elements from the OG system like Break Arts and Chain Abilities. I didn't mean turn it into a "generic" action RPG.. :p

It looks like my question I asked for this Q&A got lost somehow. I don't see my comment on the Jan. 23 post. Oh well.. It was about Vagrant Story, and how you think Square Enix could do a remake of it, but seeing as it looks like it will win the next series (YES!!), that might be an even better place to address it. :) Even in the comments on the voting for the next series, many are saying that they love the story and storytelling, but it's the gameplay that is the barrier. If a remake should happen (and dear God, let's hope so), should they keep the same combat but do more to teach the player how it works, or should the combat be reworked entirely (perhaps into a straight action RPG)? I actually enjoy the combat of the original game, but I would be completely okay if they reworked it entirely into an action RPG. And, of course, an improved interface is a must as well. :) Thanks! And very excited for the Vagrant Story discussion! (Mike, didn't you say offhandedly that VS had no chance of winning in the poll? haha)

I think there will be a limit on how excellent graphics can get. How could they improve upon a level of realism greater than our perceptual capacity to detect it? We've already hit this with refresh rate on the higher-end monitors. Eventually, even the most graphics-focused developers will need to consider other variables once that level is no longer a technical issue.
