Congrats on the new job, hopefully this is a life change in a positive direction. You look tired, dude, so I hope health and rest are still a priority. Great to hear about the editor. Getting the retrospective behind you will probably feel like releasing kidney stones at this point. I've been there. With big, never-ending projects I mean...not kidney stones... congrats! i know there just aren't enough hours in the day but i hope you can get some good rest soon. i remember hiring an editor was originally a $3.5k milestone so i'm surprised to hear it's already underway, but i bet it's going to feel awesome to finally get those out and they'll be great for growth too. looking forward & stay well!

Just here to add that we appreciate you sticking with the milestones and FF Fridays! Life, health and work comes first, so please don't ever feel pressured if there are some weeks you aren't around, or even if you are around and are just too tired to do it. Hi, Greg! Thanks for the offer, but there is no way I will ever touch FFXI again. I have had several people say virtually the same thing, "I can help you make it less annoying/painful/boring/time-consuming" and every time I hated every second of that game. I even had the guy who wrote the wiki for FFXI, who has been playing it non-stop since release, who knows every aspect of the game inside-out, try to get me into it and I couldn't do it. I just hate FFXI.

Hey Mike I would say go with your preference :). We understand you’re super busy and we wouldn’t want this to become a slog for you but more like a release or a way to decompress and have some fun with us. So I say go with what interests you more. You guys are doing great work with the deep dive analysis content and the monthly specials keep it up!!

Also, I've been playing through XI and have found myself enjoying it quite a bit once I got over some initial hurdles. I understand your frustration with the game but I think I might be able to help get you through it in a less painful manner if you ever decide to try that one again. If you need any advice on XI, I'd be happy to help out in that regard.

FF14 would be amazing! But also, how about extending FF Fridays so it eventually becomes “RPG Fridays” so you could play something else than FF?

I think you should prioritize games you haven't beaten. Tactics Advance, XI, XIV, etc. Get weird with it.

Congratulations on the job! Hope the travel doesn’t burn you out too much - traveling for work is both great fun and occasionally exhausting. No worries at all on timing. I think FF14 would be super cool mostly because it’d give us an excuse as a community to all hop in and play. I’ve played a bit - made it through Heavensward over the course of 3 years or so - but the problem I have is I just don’t have any real friends who play MMOs or games in general really. Having this community to play with would I think make the experience better for everyone. But it is LOOOONG so maybe can split up expansions with other numbered FFs if you get burned out. Other downside is the subscription makes it more expensive. But really. FF14 is a really great story once you push through ARR a bit and they patched ARR to make it shorter and less padded - they now have enough content for people to keep paying subscription fees without a bloated main quest in ARR so hopefully you’ll like it better now

Would love to see you play 14! It is generally such an amazing game. The community can join in and help you get through the early parts as well. I live in the UK so my timezone won't line up with it.

Glad to hear you got some help with an editor! He's a thought on the FF Friday situation: What if you play the games at your own pace and record it whenever you have time off-camera, then when it's time for an official "FF Friday stream", just play your recorded footage back and do commentary over it? You won't be able to make different gameplay decisions based on audience feedback, but in the past you've said that you find it difficult to focus on the gameplay and interact with the audience at the same time. If you've played and recorded the footage beforehand you could focus on commentary and interaction with the audience in pure "analysis mode" during the FF Friday streams. Just a thought.
