It was a blustery Tuesday in spring, when they first met. Exuding an aura of immense confidence, he’d left her blushing and squirming, somehow forgetting to charge him for his coffee. Something about the way he spoke, made it so easy to lose track of her surroundings and just feel relaxed and calm. But today would be different.
Today, he returned to the coffee shop, and she was ready. He flashed her the same cocky grin, “So nice to see you again, I assume you feel the same?” His overconfidence tasted sour in her mouth, she coughed out a little laugh, “sorry, have we met?” This was an unexpected turn for him, and he quickly placed his order and frantically searched his memory for evidence that she was his last victim in this coffee shop. Meanwhile, a smile crept across her face. She tucked a strand of ginger hair behind ear, and whipped up an espresso.
Ensuring no one was watching her, she slipped a small amount of white powder into the ceramic cup before smothering it in piping hot coffee. An “Order up!” rippled across the room. He slowly approached the counter, trying to regain his hypnotic aura, “That’ll be 3.50 friend!” His confidence faltered once more as he begrudgingly handed over the coins. Winking as he caught her eye, she passed over the tray, “Enjoy your drink darlin’.”
