Artbook sneak peek

With Sprocket visiting, holidays happening...and my house apparently falling apart (we've had some issues with various things like the pool equipment or AC...or hot water heater breaking recently), I haven't had quite as much time to work on the extra CGs for the game.

Though I'm two and a half in, I've been focusing on something that doesn't take quite as much brain power and is a little easier to work on with a lot of distractions...

And that is the art book! 

Steph and I have discussed general layout and I've put together a few pages. We've been gathering up various old versions of things, or anything we can find as we decide what all to include in the book.

I thought I'd show you guys some previews of things! OwO Currently I'm working on the sprite section and haven't done much else so I don't have any CG pages or BG pages done yet.

We'll be doing a profile page for all the main characters that has their basic stats and some additional backstory information that might not be found in other places. Side characters won't have as much information and will probably get only a single page in the book vs the 3-4 pages that main characters get.

Characters will also get an expression sheet that shows off some of their in-game expressions. Main characters will get an entire page while side characters and extras will have all their expressions on the same page as their full sprite (side characters only have half-body sprites.)

Main characters will also get a page showing off any variations like outfit or pose changes.

The other thing we're gathering up are any sketches, WIPS, design tests, or additional artwork for characters. 

Unfortunately I don't have as many sketches or designs anymore. For a while, early on in development, storage space both on and offline became a huge issue. I ended up having to get rid of some the sketches and progress art I'd saved because I just didn't have space for them. By the time I'd solved that problem, I'd already deleted a lot of my sketches and such.

Fortunately I still have some, so we're going to gather up anything we can find to put it in the book! 

Anyway, that's really about all I have to show off. I haven't gotten too far into working on it. I'm not sure how big the book will end up being - we have more than 30 CGs and also more than 30 BGs. Many of the CGs and backgrounds also have variations. Backgrounds have *many* variations. We want to show off as much as possible but we also don't want the artbook to be endless pages of the same BGs in different times of day so we're looking at ways to have a lot of content but condense as much as possible. 

Fortunately we still have a lot of the CG concept art as well as some old, unused BGs or BG concept art - some of which have never been posted anywhere. So I'm really hoping the artbook is worthwhile and at least somewhat fun to look through.

Anyway, that's all for now! Just wanted to show you guys what was going on currently and give you a fun (hopefully) look into the Changeling artbook!
