But in another way, it just meant he had a really long time during which he could tease her by kissing her in public and watching her go red.
He knew she'd finally gotten comfortable with him the day he tried to sneak up on her and instead she spun around, pushed him against the wall, and yanked him down by the scarf to kiss him first.
In full view of his brothers (who burst into applause, of course).
When they parted, he was just standing there stunned, heart about to explode and eyes wide.
She smirked up at him, one eyebrow raising slightly in what was almost a dare. She left him there and it took several seconds of him watching her retreat out of the cafe before he grinned happily and, ignoring his brothers' teasing, ran after her to see if he could get another kiss.
