The non-existent side project - With the Wind

Halloooooo!

So some of you know that we definitely do not have a side project going on right now.

Okay, we do.

I wanted to share a bit about it.  You see, recently...I had a dream. Now for those who've known me for a while, you'll know my dreams can be very vivid, very detailed, and a bit like watching TV in my head.

When I woke up from this dream, I kind of went "I have to write that down. It would make a great story. And THAT DOCTOR needs romance."

Normally I try to keep focused one project but this story is simple, short, and something I feel I can work on in the evenings when I need a break from GS. All through Changeling I had other things I'd write or work on sometimes. Most of them were personal stories that are unlikely to see the light of day.

But sometimes you just need a break. This time around, maybe this game will be my break.

My general idea is that it will be a free project and no longer than 75-100k.

There will be two...maybe three love interests. And the setting is going to be clockpunk with the aesthetic being semi-renaissance with some modern anachronisms.

A very low risk, low drama story with simplistic branching. Something that is just cute and fluffy.

Of course...it involves the Fae. (I mean, it's me. Faeries are clearly my bread and butter.)

I wanted to share a quick snippet of the introduction, which is told a bit like a faerie tale.

*****

"Once there was a village girl who was pretty and kind. She was a simple girl with brown hair, freckles, and laughing eyes. One day she went into the forest to pick berries as she always did. And there, she met a handsome man with mist-grey eyes and snowy hair."

"He was, of course, no ordinary man. He was a Sylph. And he fell in love with her straight away as Faeries are sometimes wont to do. He whisked her away to his home in the clouds, leaving her father to mourn alone."

"A year later - the the very day - the woman returned. She appeared out of a light breeze and walked up to her father's cabin as if she had just left that morning. And she was heavy with child."

"It could be that the Sylph had gotten tired of her. They are, after all, said to be quite fickle. But it could have been that the girl was wan, gaunt, and clearly in ill-health. Perhaps the Fae simply didn't know how to care for a human girl."

"It wasn't long before the girl gave birth to a quiet baby with snow white hair and misty eyes. Upon giving birth the mother smiled, sighed once..."

"And her body faded away and disappeared with a breeze that had blown in through an open window - perhaps called back to Faerie husband in the clouds."

"The child was left alone to be raised by the old man."

"Born of Fae and human, the child developed magic powers as she grew. Now, some humans could use the magic of the material elements - earth, fire, air, and water. They were rare and had to study many years under the kingdom's prized mages."

"But some elements required the blood of magic races to thrive and were almost non-existent in human bloodlines."

"Thus, the old man kept his little granddaughter secret from everyone. He raised her alone and made her promise never to leave the mountain or have anything to do with the villagers below. If others knew about her gift, they'd try to use her for their own whims."

"So she stayed with him and never tried to leave. And though it was just the two of them, they were very, very happy for many years."

"But, of course, nothing lasts forever. And even the sweetest tales eventually must end."

The story is only about 5500 words right now. It has no artwork or anything associated with it so there isn't (and won't be) much to show off of it. But I may share snippets with you guys here and there as it slowly grows.

Oh! And it's currently called "With the Wind" for...reasons. Idk. LoL
