Super Duper Important Poll #2

(Make sure to download the samples : https://mega.nz/#!xIZinKaB!4vNyLyTmF8qwLVCnExdXy9kgC7OlSHSIst_K1dCmasM)

The first poll was pretty obvious, Visual Novel won by a healthy margin of votes and while I'm not as experienced with VN as I am with RPG Maker MV I find the change refreshing and welcomed!

But now here comes another poll even more important than the previous one. I always want to improve on everything I do and the best way to do that is with a new game, take everything I learned so far and take the best out of it, get it to that next level.

With that in mind I want to give you guys the best because you deserve it, to be blunt. Without you none of the games completed so far would have been possible, there are bills to pay, food to eat, content to purchase, hardware to improve, software to buy and so on. I love doing what I do and I don't want to stop! Hell, I want to do it more and better!

So with that said the question is :

Would you prefer the new game to come in 720p quality (Like MGA) or even higher at 1080p (great improvement in quality)?

The link above contains two images, the same one in 720p and 1080p so you can see the difference in quality. I for one am very hyped to start rendering in 1080p but I don't know if everyone has the TV's and the monitors to support this increase in resolution which would look odd if not bad on lower end screens. While it does take a while longer to render in 1080p I already decided that this new game will not be quantity over quality, so really no matter the resolution the amount of images will be the same and same goes for the play time. I really went overboard with MGA reaching up to 400 images on some updates and while more is better I would like to go even further and reach a balance between quantity and quality.

A lot of text and so much more to say but I'll stop for now and come with new info in several days, first I need to focus on the MGA update coming in 3-4 days!

Let me know what you think!

720 would cut down on download size, but i'm sure almost everyone has a 1080p monitor now days. I personally like 4k but the file size would almost triple.

Is there a reason to choose 720p? :D

Elysion

The difference is indeed a small one. For Information use: 27", 2560x1440

Thanks! 720p does look dated indeed!

The quality is about 20% higher in 1080p than 720p. I use a 4k TV for renders and the difference is obvious on my end.

If you want to get a feel for what people use as a monitor the steam hardware survey is a good starting point. According to it more than 70% use at least a 1080p monitor and 22.11 % use less than that, which is also roughly what the survey here is currently at. http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/ I also agree with the person above about the fact that 720p does not exactly that great on a bigger resolution.

i actually saw no difference between the pictures at all. even with the 720p one resized to a bit larger than the 1080p one there was not actual difference in quality.

now technology has improved a lot, I bought a 2k 27" monitor. that is, it should be at least 1080p. now it seems to be a low resolution even at 720p.
