Trinpari 9- Sawmill [30x25]

Hey everyone, here is the sawmill to go with the sawmill owners villa from 2 weeks ago. It is a 2 level map (+ roof)... as I thought a bit of a loft area for mill worker accommodation might be a good idea - no kitchen though, as I figure they mostly eat at the owners house.  It is also an alternative route to the small mill shop on the other side of the mill race.

This map was a real engineering puzzle, as I wanted to keep to the building shape that I drew on the Trinpari city map... which, as it turns out was not quite the ideal shape for a sawmill. I ended up having to install a long drive belt right down the guts of the building... and then some stiles to climb over it. Best part though, was realizing that I could install 2 milling tables, a small one in the south building and the large one that needs the drive belt. I probably have not thought through all the real life needs of a saw mill & I suspect that there are a few bits that may or may not work in real life ... It is a while since my grade 4 field trip to an old saw mill and I am a bit hazy on the details now! However, it definitely feels like a sawmill and there are enough moving parts to cause trouble for any party in the area....

It is a bit of a specialist map rather than a generalist one, so  I hope you can find an interesting way to use it... I will look forward to hearing what you come up with.

Here is a close up look at a bit of it...

Free maps for everyone: 72dpi maps are attached to this post. You are more than welcome to download them for personal use. Enjoy ...

For Patreon Supporters:

Back Seat Drivers: You guys get the vtt res/print res & gridded/ungridded day versions of level 1, the level 2 overlay and the roof overlays  Adventurer's map download links

Navigators: You guys also get all the night versions as well as the creators kit. The creators kit works the same as the one I made for the Sawmill owners villa...

Then repeat for the 2nd level overlays and add a roof if you want to. The Walls & Shadows layer ensures that any placed assets look like they are inside, rather than floating above. The night version will make any asset under it look like it's part of a night time setting.

I left the waterwheel, saw tables, drive belt and crank shafts as part of the base map, however, all the wood racks and the work bench etc are saved as separate assets.

Hope you have some interesting adventures this week...
