I do have to say Annette said she took on her Dad's research "experiments and all". I've never taken it meaning she used more children to test on, she was just willing using the knowledge that was gained from their experimentation. She feels morally responsible for using the info. Remember the Voyager episode " Nothing Human" when B'elanna Torres didn't want to use the info gained from the horrible experiments that one Cardassian doctor did? That is what is happening here. I admit it could be taken your way, but I feel this is what the show was saying. I want to explain out of universe reasons for this feeling like a season finale, but I'm going to hold off. I hope you continue to enjoy the show! Like you said Cour 1 was episodes 1-11. If you are watching on Crunchyroll they have some bonus episodes that were only there because of production delays. There is one after episode 11. Also the subs you are using are not the official subs, and us as 86 fans made our own subs based off the original Crunchyroll subs. It should have the songs fixed for you. We didn't translate every song every episode. If you want to use them let me know and I can share the google drive link.
