2023-12-05 18:09:03 +0000 UTCI get what you're saying, that the world we live in is cruel and pain is natural. But it is also true that alot of people in history strived to be better than that and most of them didn't succeed, but to imply the effort they put in is meaningless is ridiculous. Canute was touch by Thorfinn and halted him; albeit briefly, from going down a terrible and very realistic path. That what makes it resonate with me, Canute wouldn't have become a monster or anything like that, but why not strive to be better in the face of reality, why not put your trust in people, sure he might ultimately fail but Canute's actions will touch somebody. This how humanity has progressed at all and we are not perfect now but that doesn't mean we should just give and say 'well life is pain might as well be an asshole'. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
