2025-01-16 01:54:07 +0000 UTCFor lovers of the flute (I know you are out there, Tull fans), there is a great flute solo by Kofi Burbridge in Angel from Montgomery. Give it a listen.

2025-01-15 14:55:09 +0000 UTCSomehow King Crimson will win again. π
Ross Pollack
2025-01-14 22:58:33 +0000 UTCIt's good to see Within Temptation on the list, but more votes are needed for them! Somehow i don't think they will make it though with the other names that are on there, which seems a big shame. If they don't make it they should be included for International Womens Day on 8th March though as the Master List says it was penciled for a "Womens Wednesday" with both Sharon Den Adel and Tarja Turunen as vocalists

2025-01-14 20:14:45 +0000 UTCYes, Doug definitley needs to hear Within Temptation, especially with Tarja Turunen. It is such a great song!

2025-01-14 20:05:26 +0000 UTCI really liked your Wobbler episode Doug. I agree theyβre close to Yes and other 70-ties prog legends Thereβs another Norwegian really good progrock band you should listen to; named Airbag. Also ππ»π
Karl Stubsjoen
2025-01-14 18:56:12 +0000 UTCOne of theirs was picked in the latest Doug on Demand - see video just up. I suspect maybe why Doug has included it? A new band to me - one I want to hear more of.

2025-01-14 16:50:47 +0000 UTCThats quite a list - 5 votes to allocate and its still a difficult choice !

2025-01-14 14:48:09 +0000 UTCSeveral good alternatives. Iβve chosen Wobbler. Not only because theyβre Norwegian, but because theyβre a really great Progrock group!!

2025-01-14 11:51:27 +0000 UTCI have Consequences, and agreed. I recall really looking forward to hearing its impact at the time. But unfortunately it WAS a commercial failure, and the company went bust around 1980/81, I think. The problem seemed to be they could not come up with a reliable and working product to actually manufacture? As I recall, even Bob Moog could not sort the issues. So yes, a definite failure, because virtually no-one else was able to benefit from it (I think Jimmy Page managed to used it at one point?) for nearly 35 years, until someone came up with a new version.

2025-01-14 11:11:16 +0000 UTCSo many good choices! Although t think Skating Away does shine brighter among the many gems.

2025-01-14 09:27:20 +0000 UTCThat was a nice selection - sad to see so few votes for Roxy Music. the first Roxy album would be a great EPL - another British band where I'm guessing those of you over the pond only really know the later commercial era? They started out with a really great and fairly unique progressive sound....

2025-01-14 09:19:52 +0000 UTCI would love to see a video about a Tedeschi Trucks' song but perhaps one of their edgier songs, such as Shame that more highlights Trucks' playing.
Teresa Conboy
2025-01-14 06:28:28 +0000 UTCThis was a tough poll.

2025-01-14 06:19:19 +0000 UTCThe Kansas is pretty proggy...
Matthew Hackbert
2025-01-14 03:04:38 +0000 UTCif yours is the only version on the master list, then yes!
Matthew Hackbert
2025-01-14 03:04:15 +0000 UTCHey, there. Anybody know if the Peter Gabriel - San Jacinto on the poll was the one that was my submission - the live version from 1987?
sam theiner
2025-01-14 02:14:32 +0000 UTCWell, there is 'ol Petey Gabriel. ;-)
sam theiner
2025-01-14 02:11:43 +0000 UTCFailed Gizmo thing? Maybe a business failure, but hardly a musical failure. Indeed, the Gizmotron is the primary instrument on 'Consequences' and 'Freeze Frame' and still leaves many newcomers to 10cc and Godley-Creme totally floored by the sound spectrum it's capable of producing.
Guitar Channel
2025-01-14 01:38:10 +0000 UTCWow, no Yes, no Genesis, no Rush? How will we know what to vote for? π
Margaret Barnes
2025-01-14 01:19:31 +0000 UTCAlso when does The Great Nothing by SB make an appearance? Promise you Doug you will love it. Itβs peak Neal Morse.
Gary Thobaben
2025-01-14 01:12:48 +0000 UTCSpoonman! Soundgarden has a lot of proggy elements!
Gary Thobaben
2025-01-14 01:12:08 +0000 UTC10cc, Roxy, Al Stewart - all absolute greats Brit songs from the wonderful first half of the 1970s. I'm with you, buddy. And yes, Godley and Creme were still in the band - they left to prat about with that failed Gizmo thing the following year.
Adrian Goodrich
2025-01-14 00:59:34 +0000 UTCIt is time for Doug to hear something from Within Temptation. Having Tarja as a guest just adds to the power of the song.
Mark L
2025-01-14 00:52:49 +0000 UTCWhich prompted me to include it this time.

2025-01-14 00:50:53 +0000 UTCRoads to Moscow was done on a recent Doug on Demand
Russell L. Craft
2025-01-14 00:46:16 +0000 UTCOh, so do I too!! Great music and fabulous storytelling. I saw him live a few years ago, when he played every song on "Year of the Cat" and explained what every one was REALLY about! Roads to Moscow, and Nostradamus, are fabulous songs from the superb "Past Present and Future" album. Yet another so-underrated musician!
Adrian Goodrich
2025-01-14 00:43:59 +0000 UTCAs the one who submitted Kansas, please consider this epic mini-suite from their first Album. For Doug, make sure to let the songs run together for maximum impact!
Matthew Hackbert
2025-01-14 00:43:29 +0000 UTC10cc with Godley-Creme still in the band, I believe? Great song. RTF, Roxy Music, Al Stewart, and lots of other greats.
Guitar Channel
2025-01-14 00:37:41 +0000 UTCHoping Al Stewart pulls through. Roads to Moscow deserves analysis both musically and lyrically/historically. Stewart is ever the storyteller.

2025-01-14 00:33:39 +0000 UTCFor once I actually like every single one of the choices. Good ones Pam. π
