An experiment

I wanted to let you know about an experiment I am running this summer.

But first, as you may or may not know, the summer time is usually the dead time for educational channels on YouTube. Our views tend to go way down. Also, I've noticed that my channel has somewhat hit a plateau. There is one exception. My Compared series. I realize this series isn't necessarily the most popular with my Patreon supporters, but it is by far the most popular series on my channel. 6 of my top 10 videos on my channel are me comparing two places.

Therefore, I've decided to try an experiment, and I wanted to let you know before I began. Beginning with this Friday's video, I will be releasing a few Compared series videos in a row to see if I can build up some momentum on my channel during the summer. YouTube's algorithms favor momentum, so I'm hoping this will be a little jump start for my channel.

I should also add that I absolutely love making the Compared videos. I've always been a geography geek, and while I occasionally find myself getting not as excited to make history videos, I am always excited about these.

I hope that this decision ultimately gets me to where I want to be someday- doing this full-time. I have so many ideas but am limited due to a lack of time.

Finally, I want to assure you that this decision does not mean that Supreme Court Briefs or any of my other history videos are going away. In fact, I already have a couple Supreme Court Briefs videos planned for August. Again, this decision is just a temporary one to see if it helps build up momentum for my channel during a usually slow time.

Do not hesitate to share your comments or concerns. Thank you for your continued support of the channel and the videos.

Well that works out lol

Mr. Beat

I love the Compared series too so it would be great to see more of them! ^_^

As you can see we all support your decisions; so go for it, Mr Beat. Thanks for keeping us informed.

Excellent! I really think there is a need for it. I spent a while talking to someone in youtube comments (yeah, I know) on how the 1st Amendment protects you from the government, not business or other people. Civil laws can protect you from being beaten up for saying something but the first amendment does not. This was a strange situation where the kid (I assume) I was talking too finally understood and agreed with me. He mentioned that he has issues learning in school and uses youtube to try and further his understanding. He then makes a video about it and asks people if he is correct. It is exciting to see how the platform is used for education. I think you are a perfect fit for people to learn from.

Matt Standish

Well I didn't want anyone to get thrown off or get the wrong impression. And thank you! :)

Mr. Beat

Right on. Thank you Matt. :D

Mr. Beat

Absolutely. In fact, I had planned on starting a series specifically for the Amendments, probably in the fall. Since I'll be teaching U.S. government again next year I figured there'd be a nice overlap. :)

Mr. Beat

Well thank you. Me too!

Mr. Beat

I second Gael and Matt's comments. Thank you for being so considerate in checking in.

I would also add that you should absolutely focus on doing videos that you like doing the most. Otherwise this will be just another job and you could burn out.

Matt Standish

Have you considered a constitution series? Maybe going over the Constitution and then a video on each of the amendments? Who added them, why they were added, and what do they mean for us now?

Matt Standish

Thanks for the heads-up! Sound like a great idea! I hope it works and pushes your channel to the next level!
