The War Your American History Teachers Probably Didn't Tell You About

I finally covered the Philippine-American War. I hope I did a sufficient job explaining it.

Thank you for your continued support!

Yeah it's nice to finally have an alternative platform to post my stuff where people actually go

Mr. Beat

wow you have a uncensored video on rumble. . your learning great ways to use rumble.

Devin Canada

This I do not recall learning anything about. Thank you so much for this.

Bonnie

Yep, I left them out because the video would have been age-restricted if I kept them in, which dramatically hurts the performance of the video. Hopefully more folks like you do some exploring on their own!

Mr. Beat

I concede in advance. I wasn't familiar with this military conflict until I think you mentioned it in a Live stream... Just grotesque. No positive spin here. Although, I'd rather know than not know.... I also did some other investigation on my own and some images are just hideous. I kinda suspect you might know what I'm referring to but you justifiably left it out. Ugh.

DANTE VERONA

You overachiever, Andrew. Extra credit for you! 😄 But in all seriousness, thanks for the movie recommendation.

Mr. Beat

I actually did learn about this in school, but only because I read ahead in my world history textbook in 6th grade. Even though we didn’t actually reach this subject in actual class discussion, I learned about subjects in that class that were never discussed in high school! Also highly recommend the Spanish-language film Los últimos de Filipinas about the Siege of Baler.

She does a half U.S. half Philippines. My father will be doing it as well for snowbirding. She has family here fulltime in the U.S.

Adam Christians

How long has she lived in the United States?

Mr. Beat

Thankfully my father's girlfriend who was born in the Philippines, she hasn't said anything about it. She's sweet as candy.

Adam Christians

Thanks Michael. I think it helps that American-Filipino relations have tremendously healed since WWII. In fact, Filipino Americans make up the second-largest Asian ethnic group in the country. It's nice to know we now have a much better relationship.

Mr. Beat

Thanks Michael. I appreciate you sharing your story and the kind and thoughtful words. You might also be interested in this podcast I was also recently on: https://open.spotify.com/episode/11gDZCTOWmtDT9JHJKe2DU

Hard video to watch. I’m half Filipino. My Filipino side - an uncle of ours actually fought at Caloocan against the country I now mostly proudly call home (the US). Thank you so much for sharing the truth of what happened. My family came over for a better life and despite what America did to them historically, they have found peace, stability, homes, and decent jobs. It’s so complicated reconciling that with the subject matter of this video.

Michael Cortez

Hoo, boy. This was painful to watch. First, it's horrifying all around. Just disgusting what the truth is. Second, well, while my mother-in-law was born a U.S. citizen on an American army base in Germany, she is the daughter of two who were born in the Phillipines during American control of the Phillipines. Her father fought in the Battle of the Bataan in WWII and served in the U.S. army. She is full blooded Filipino. My wife is half Filipino, and my children one quarter. Their existence is due to this horrible war. I will try to show the video to my wife, who is not a history fan but I hope is willing to learn about this. My young children will eventually learn about it, too, under my watch. It's truly heartbreaking to know the depths to which humans can sink when swept up in racism, superiority, and the like. Thanks as always for your hard work in compiling your research and presenting it in an easy to follow manner.
