Psionic Ch. 91 - Trial

A day passed after the battle with Maximus. Andrew was busy healing the affected metahumans all over New York and the neighboring states since apparently, the Terrigen Bomb was strong enough to spread that far.

He isn't doing any movement regarding the little problem called Maximus since the guy is just right there at a S.H.I.E.L.D facility, being jailed, waiting for his trial. But Magneto had already talked to him about the guy and he agreed to let the former have the latter.

Erik was itching to to peel Maximus' skin for what he pulled to the metas. And Andrew was very much happy to let him do the honor.

On the other hand. Andrew was in the middle of a healing session with a group of metahumans in a random hospital when the X-Men suddenly appeared at the hospital.

"Psionix, thank you for saving us." Alex Summers, along with Scott behind him, said as he approached Andrew. "And you also saved countless lives and prevented a catastrophe."

Andrew looked up from his work and nodded calmly at the group. "It was nothing, really. I just did what I could to help."

"Don't be modest," Storm interjected. "Your powers and skills were instrumental in saving lives. We can't thank you enough."

"Agreed," added Beast. "If it weren't for you, the consequences would have been much worse."

Andrew nodded, trying not cringe back at the words that is coming out of his mouth. "I appreciate your kind words. But it was a team effort, and I couldn't have done it without the help of other heroes."

This time, Charles nodded in agreement. "We know that. And that's why we also want to offer our assistance if you ever need it."

"Thank you," Andrew said. "I'll keep that in mind."

A week had passed and the location of Maximus' trial was undisclosed to the public, but it was well-known among the highest-ranking officials in the government and the Royal family of Inhumans. The room where the trial was being held was spacious and dimly lit, with only a long table in the center where the people involved in the trial were seated.

The walls were made of stone and the ceiling was high, giving the room a cold and eerie feeling. The table itself was made of dark wood, polished to a high shine. At one end of the table sat Maximus, his hands shackled to prevent any attempts at escape. He wore an orange jumpsuit and looked disheveled, with his long hair unkempt and his beard grown out.

At the opposite end of the table sat a group of people, including members of the Royal family of Inhumans and high-ranking officials from the government. They all wore stern expressions as they listened intently to the evidence being presented against Maximus. The evidence was overwhelming and proved beyond any reasonable doubt that Maximus was responsible for the detonation of the Terrigen bomb and the subsequent harm caused to the metahuman population

The trial continued with the senator reading out the charges against Maximus, including the use of a Terrigen bomb that endangered the lives of countless innocent people. Maximus remained silent throughout the proceedings, but his eyes darted around the room, looking for any signs of weakness or sympathy.

Medusa was the first to speak, her voice calm but firm. "Maximus, you have betrayed our people and endangered the lives of humans and Inhumans alike. You have committed heinous crimes, and we demand justice."

Karnak nodded in agreement. "Your actions were reckless and selfish, and you must face the consequences."

The government officials were not the only ones who voiced their displeasure. The public was outraged by Maximus' actions and demanded justice for the innocent people who were affected by his Terrigen Bomb. Social media was flooded with messages of anger and frustration, with many calling for harsh punishment for the Inhuman prince. The news channels also covered the story extensively, with talk shows and news programs debating the issue and speculating on what kind of punishment Maximus would receive.

Even some members of the Royal family of Inhumans were not happy with Maximus' actions. Medusa, the Queen of the Inhumans, publicly denounced her brother's actions and apologized to the affected metahumans. She also promised that the Royal family would work closely with the US government to bring Maximus to justice and prevent any future incidents like this from happening.

Despite the public outrage and the calls for harsh punishment, the trial proceeded in a calm and orderly manner. Maximus remained silent throughout the proceedings, refusing to speak or answer any questions. The high-level officials in the room were taking note of every detail, analyzing the evidence presented and weighing the possible consequences of their decision. It was clear that this was a serious matter that required careful consideration and a just outcome.

Maximus remained silent throughout, his expression unchanged. He knew that his fate was sealed, but he refused to show any signs of weakness or remorse.

After several hours of tense deliberation, the verdict was finally announced in the dimly lit room where Maximus' trial was being held. The people involved in the trial sat stoically as the verdict was read aloud, their faces giving nothing away. Andrew watched from a small monitor in the hospital where he was checking up on some of his patients.

Maximus, who had been sitting motionless and silent throughout the entire trial, suddenly sprang to his feet as the verdict was read aloud. His eyes bulged in disbelief and anger as he struggled against the guards who were holding him back.

"You can't do this!" he yelled. "I demand a retrial! This is a travesty of justice!"

But the verdict had been made, and there was no going back. Maximus was led out of the room in handcuffs, his once-imposing figure reduced to that of a defeated man. The Avengers, who are all gathered in the Avengers Tower, sighed as they watched the guards take Maximus away, feeling a sense of closure now that the man responsible for so much pain and suffering had been brought to justice.
