Patreon Video Suggestions
Added 2024-02-21 01:01:12 +0000 UTCHello Patrons,
We're getting back to full production soon and that means back to giving you all the extras we usually do. This thread is for suggesting video topics that you want to see, write in the comments what sort of video you want us to work on and we'll make a poll tomorrow. The winner will be turned into a video.
Check what other people have written and give them likes to make sure we include the most popular topics in the poll. We've already got videos on a few hot button issues in the works like stage 3 tax cuts along with followups to a few of the videos we showed you early.
Check back tomorrow evening for the poll.

I would also like to see a video on the vape sale ban, but I have a feeling that you probs won't make one, because of selection bias. This is not to say you're not independent, or paid by labor, all the terrible talking points mentioned by brainless people, but you do have a selection bias towards promoting Labor's positive things and criticizing the Liberals. I just feel like if the Liberal party were in power, you would be going super hard on the health and aged care minister, like the time as you did towards Mike Baird with the Sydney Lockout laws. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeMRLC1F6yM. A lot of the talking points could basically mirror themselves as far as what you said about Mike Baird during that video. Talking about children vaping being an epidemic (when it's not) "Shrieking like Mrs Lovejoy, won't someone think of the children". Fabricated statistics about how people vaping becomes a gateway drug to smoking. How by banning vaping in the way they have, you're pushing people back to smoking, whilst increasing the tax on cigarettes to try to raise more revenue this way. There's also this article https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/8539450/vape-shops-funding-organised-crime-minister-warns/ Where Mark Butler says "They are using this lucrative source of revenue to fund their other criminal activities like drug trafficking, sex trafficking and the like.", Which might be the case if you criminalize something, then criminals tend to get involved in it. These new laws have blatantly caused the increase in black market activity. In essence, I think anyone can see this is a pretty black and white case of the government trying to shut down something, that is taking money from their pockets through people vaping instead of purchasing cigarettes, and I know, that if the Liberal party did this, you would be all over it, but it just feels like you wont, because you would rather have the Labor party look good, than actually cover something like this which is important.

2024-03-12 14:27:35 +0000 UTCI realise this is late but as a fellow vaper (former smoker) I'd love your take on the recent vape sale bans. Why the Cancer Council were such staunch lobbyists for the ban. Why companies like Phillip Morris are said to have poured so much money into the Cancer Council. And why, despite the global science on Vaping as a less harmful cessation to smoking, has it been wholly banned from legal sale in Australia when disposable nicotine vapes, that are said to be the crux of under-aged vaping issues, were never lawfully allowed sale in Australia? There's hundreds of lawful vape stores and thousands of staff about to be made unemployed for an issue they never had any involvement in.

Commend the unions who have been advocating for this ban for many years. Country Labor calls on the State and Federal governments to implement the necessary safety systems and enforcements; such as testing facilities and health surveillance for workers to ensure they are never unnecessarily exposed to these dangerous materials again." 2024-02-27 07:40:30 +0000 UTCCorruption of government seems to be driven by corporations through the mechanism of lobbying. American and British governments have rules to stop ministers going into corporate jobs that could be viewed as corrupt for 2 years after being in government. I think our government ministers should be banned from corporate jobs related to their ministry for 5 years after public service. Democracy ain't easy. Check out this article. https://australianpolitics.com/2002/02/20/ex-ministers-jobs-after-government.html
