Wuohouw! 😀❤️

I just found it and have added it to the collection :)

Jackie-Ross Lavender

Very good point! I have no idea where it's gone! I'll see if I can find it and reupload it!

Jackie-Ross Lavender

Oh, where do I find S2E1?

Natasja Mrdjanov

In that interview, Edvin's command of the English language is absolutely top notch. So much so that he could easily teach English in any Swedish school or any other country for that matter.

Malte really did amazing this season and I too started to feel a bit of sympathy for him, he really does seem to be genuinely sorry about what he did. I don’t like Markus, I didn’t from the very beginning but I also (and don’t hate me for this) think that Simon is just using him as he won’t want to go out if Markus asks but then something happens with Wille and he gets straight on the phone saying ‘do you still want to? I also think the Queen thought that two years would be enough time for Wille to get over and forget about Simon, that’s why she said that, I do agree with the therapy though, that will definitely be good for him. As someone who has actually done therapy it is good to be able to talk to someone who knows nothing about you or the people around you. This is slightly different as the school therapist will know somethings but it’s still good to talk to someone not involved in the drama.

Malte truly shone this season. I too started feeling a bit for August, and it made me so mad that his performance actually made me kinda sympathize with August.

I agree with everything you say, Ivalani. I think it’s easy to forget how young they are and that they are both struggling to cope with overwhelming emotions. I do think that Markus oversteps the mark from the beginning though and doesn’t listen to Simon when he should. I also think that much as I hate August, Malte is pretty impressive this season and at times, I even feel a tiny bit of sympathy for him. 😏

No spoilers in my comment, read on. Don't worry, this season will not be only a clusterfuck of sad emotions but I have to say, now that I've watched it several times, the angst and pining were out of this world. After the way Season 1 ended, it was unrealistic for Simon and Wille to get back together too quickly. So for me, this gloom and sadness in the first couple of episodes were to be expected. Simon was incredibly hurt, not just by Wille's denial of the video, but because Wille didn't tell him about his statement up front, he was completely blindsided and heard about it from the news, I think that was his main issue, his trust in Wille was completely broken. He was left on his own and humiliated, and he already felt like an outsider at their school. Many people criticise Simon this season for this thing with Marcus, but he's just a boy, he's terribly hurt and he's trying to deal with his pain and move on any way he can. Also, re. the Queen, I think that whole spiel about waiting for Wille to turn 18 before they talk about his future, is just to buy more time, I think she expects that by the time Wille is 18, Simon will be long forgotten. No one really knows, except Felice, about the depth of his feelings for Simon. Although I have to say, the Queen getting Wille to agree to therapy is actually very positive, he needs it desperately.

I really enjoyed q+magazines reviews and discissions on season 2. They review each episode in depth as well as the series as a whole. https://qplusmagazine.com/?s=Young+royals

I watched this just about an hour ago. I’m always impressed by someone as well spoken as Edvin is, especially given that he is speaking a language that is not his first language. And he’s also insightful and perceptive in his comments.

Have deleted my earlier comment. Seemed that it was the best solution.

I love the use of colors for all the characters and how they can give us a bit more of an idea of how they are feeling.....here is an interesting tidbit I found: Colour, according to Forsberg, is one of the most crucial factors when creating a character's wardrobe. ''Wilhelm is blue and Simon is a mix of the yellows and purple. My intention was that when Simon felt more and more for Wilhelm, he started dressing in more purple. Finding the right colours for them was so important-- William is wearing an orange sweater in the beginning [ of the series], he doesn't know it then, but he's on his way towards Simon."

Bekki Babineau

The age difference between Marcus and Simon is two years. Simon is in year 1 of "Gymnasiet" and Marcus in year 3, same as August. Year one are 16/17 years old, year two 17/18 (Sara if she hadn't redone a year) and year three 18/19 years old. You graduate after year three.

You are absolutely right about the clothes. This article talks about how the designer used colours. E.g. the purple for Simon in season 1 relates to his feelings for Willhelm. Unfortunatley I don't remember the details and the article is now only for subscribers https://www.voguescandinavia.com/articles/young-royals-and-snabba-cashs-costume-designer-on-dressing-two-of-the-most-popular-swedish-netflix-shows?utm_campaign=likeshopme&utm_medium=instagram&utm_source=dash%20hudson&utm_content=www.instagram.com/p/CgPQPqxAxoh

Hi, Megan. I didn’t see the comment as a spoiler, but I have messaged Jackie to alert him in case it acts as one and apologised. There’s no way I would want to or intend to affect his experience of season 2 in a negative way.

Graham & Ruth May

Of course! Consider me a mediator of sorts haha. It's not a direct spoiler or anything above btw, Ruth wouldn't do that of course :) just a comment hinting unintentionally I think (the last 3-4 lines) towards how an aspect of the storyline could progress or turn out in the future. It's just that that hint references things we come to watch play out later on so I thought it best just to mention it for your authentic viewing pleasure in case you wanted to avoid it <3

Megan Brady

I feel for both. But I must say Wille' suffering really got me in season 2. Edvin's acting skills are unbelievable... They both great... Love them! But maybe because of the whole anxiety issue, the lack of emotional awareness, his need for physical touch... Oh dear!

Ingrid Machado Pena

I just want to love him and protect him as my own. He is such a bright, intelligent young man. I can't wait to see what the future holds for him!

Bekki Babineau

Another absolutely beautiful and insightful interview with Edvin on 'Reign With Josh Smith,' a beautiful queer podcast which can be found here: https://youtu.be/9jmGmURP2oU (Warning: DO NOT watch this unless you have seen the entirety of S2 of YR as it contains massive spoilers).

Megan Brady

(i haven’t read through any of these comments yet but i adore you for this ♥️)

Jackie-Ross Lavender

Please be careful not to hint towards any potential spoilers! I know it can be difficult & we're all just so excited for Jackie to catch up and see/realise/notice all the things we have from watching it multiple times but yeah just be careful not to reference things that we're only able to comment on in hindsight :)

I love that Lisa and her writing crew always balances everything. I've talked before about a chord being struck that is always resolved later. Here the echo is from season 1 episode 3. After their first kiss Wille says they should forget about it but that he still wants to be friends. Here, in this episode Wille feels he has gotten a future resolution to their relationship from his Mother (as always from his point of view, of course) but Simon says no but they can talk in school, they have to. And Wille says, "You mean as friends."

Dennis Verner

"A clusterfuck of sad emotions". Yep....that pretty much sums up this season so far. Hah! I think I was in tears for one reason or another pretty much every episode....sometimes outright sobbing. But I cry at Hallmark holiday commercials, so there's that..... I love the thoughtful writing of this series and the subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle parallels to Season 1. Like how Simon walks around Marcus' place with his hands behind his back and looks over everything - just like Wille did when he was in Simon's room. The "cozy" comment about Marcus' space - just like Wille said about his. The wanting to watch a horror movie, just like he and Wille were doing the first time they touched. I think one of the best things Wille's mom did, possibly her only parenting win so far, was getting him to see a therapist. Our poor boy is going through IT and hasn't been able to properly process any of it....from the death of his brother to suddenly having the enormous responsibility and weight of being crown prince, to his feelings for Simon, and having been forcefully outed by August. He couldn't even say the words that his brother had died. You are right, the soundtrack is amazing and adds so much to the series. I have had it on repeat. I especially enjoy Elias, the Revolution singer from last year. He's got talent! About the colours of the clothes- I think I am remembering correctly that when Simon wears purple, it signifies he’s feeling closer to Wilhelm and when he wears orange, he’s feeling or trying to feel more distant from him; when Wilhelm wears blue, he’s drawing closer to Simon and the greys and paler colours signify that he’s feeling that they are further apart. If I am inaccurately recalling this, I am sure someone else on Patreon will remember accurately, though.

The writers also know how to end each episode at a pivotal moment that makes you really want to watch more. For example, right now you don’t know whether the summons to see the queen is going to be something that August should fear or feel good about. I do think this season adds new dimensions to all of the characters, both the ones we like and the ones we don’t. I think someone has addressed the colors of the clothes somewhere that I’ve seen, but I honestly don’t remember exactly what they said or what they mean. There is a video on YouTube that is a cooking show with Omar as a guest that really tells you more about his personal background. it came out before the season began, so there are no spoilers on it. It’s called “Three Flavors with Omar Rudberg” if you want to watch it.
