Reacting To Young Royals Season 2 - Episode 4

Hey guys - apologies for the late video. Patreon video takes forever and a day to process videos... take the good with the bad I guess!!

Cool. So count me in though pls 🤣❤️🤗

Not officially! But I made it out alive at the end of season 3 and the Young Royals Forever documentary, so unofficially, yes. 😂

@Graham & Ruth May Was the Club founded? I need to join right now 🤭😇❤️

Another thing about Markus which annoys me in this episode (and yes, there are quite a lot of things I dislike about him) is that he first of all says it’s not his thing, going to a ball, in episode 3, then he turns up in Simon’s room and makes it very clear that he’s only going to the ball in order to get Simon to stay over at his place overnight. I think that he’s also aware that Simon will see Wilhelm at the ball so he’s going in order to chaperone Simon and prevent anything from happening between them. At no point does he seem interested in hearing Simon sing, even though the solo is so important for Simon. It’s not about supporting Simon, it’s about demonstrating, ‘he’s with me’ for Wilhelm to see and about manipulating Simon into sleeping with him afterwards. 😡🤮

Also, while the wi-fi is working and the wind is in the right direction, (see where I am in my post on most recent page) I think that Simon is doing with Markus exactly what Wilhelm confessed to Felice that he was doing with her in episode 3. They are both trying to see if it can feel the same with someone else and of course, it doesn’t and it couldn’t possibly. They both discover this in episode 3, although Simon really started to understand it in episode 2, and then they confirm it in the best possible way in episode 4 when they kiss each other and feel how much they love each other. Thank God, we all yelled at our screens. But knowing Young Royals and bearing in mind that we still have 2 more episodes to be put through yet more emotional turmoil, I am expecting a lot more anxiety for all of us. If we make it to the end of the finale, I think we should start a Young Royals Survivors Club. Jackie can be the founder member. 😂

Agreed about August.. he has caused a lot of harm but that doesn’t mean that he should take the blame for all things bad. Also, Saras text before the ball actually said ”I can’t see you anymore” in Swedish, so he was really hurting I think..

This is my favourite episode from both seasons, we got everything, the tension and emotions were through the roof, and we got plenty of evidence of Simon still loving Wille (jealousy and pettiness, the fish scene with Marcus, looking like he was about to throw up when Wille told him he was letting him go, immediately going after Wille afterwards, serenading him in front of the entire school, etc.). But I love angst, so no wonder I love this episode. Simon did use Marcus to make Wille jealous at the ball but I can't find it in me to care or feel sorry for M. And I wouldn't call what they have being together, they are very casual, 90% of the time Simon looks like he'd rather be anywhere else. So, sorry Marcus, you were just a plot device and now you've served your purpose. Btw, Verbier is some uber-fancy ski resort in Switzerland.

The fish scene with Markus is a beautiful example of just how tight the script writing is in not just this episode but the whole of season 1 and 2. I can’t think of another show in which a single line of dialogue says so much. It is also the line that made me think, ‘This is a turning point’, because until he actually says this, I don’t think Simon consciously realises that he is never going to allow Markus any closer. He’s also moved the fish tank so he can see it more easily by this point in the season. The kisses, particularly the first one, punched me in the solar plexus, partly because of the intense pausing and the amplified breathing, which reminded me of the first time they kissed in episode 2 season 1 and the first time they made love in Wilhelm’s room in season 1. What amazes me is how Edvin and Omar convey such emotions, intimacy co-ordinator notwithstanding, it’s something special. 🫠❤️And that song! I’m with Audrey- can’t stop listening to it and the crescendo is spine-tingling. What a beautiful voice. The looks exchanged by Wilhelm and Simon during the song say so much, too. (And I am not at all sorry for Markus!) 😏😂

We always did the Valentines Day note thing in our school, the week before Valentines there was a postbox you could post letters, notes etc.. into and usually at the end of the day someone would go round the classes delivering them to the recipients 😊 (I never got one!!) The scene with the fish is because it was such a romantic moment when he told Wille what they were called that he didn’t want to spoil that memory by just telling Markus so he just said they had no names. I think Sara and August really do have feelings for each other and they obviously make each other happy but I think that Sara has her reasons for not wanting to go public, she thinks Felice will hate her for dating him as he is her ex and she likes having friends to hang around with. I can’t believe I’m about to defend August here because it was such a horrible thing to do, but I think he only told Alexander what he did about Wille because he was upset about Sara changing her mind about going with him which left him all alone whereas she and Wille spent the night with the girls. Now, the kiss made me so happy, just because we got to see how happy they still made each other, even if it only lasted for a few seconds I think it gave Wille hope that Simon did still love him the way he did before, it just needs to progress very slowly so that nothing gets in the way again, and of course, we need to get rid of Markus!! That song Simon sings with the choir is absolutely breathtaking, it has been the #1 song on my Spotify playlist for weeks now and is constantly on repeat ❤️❤️ I can’t think of anything else at the moment but if I do I will come back and add it!

By the way- the Valentine happening is not something commonly celebrated in Sweden.

I had to pause too at the fish scene, sob a little and walk around my house for a bit. Only two people know the names of those fish, and Marcus will never be one of them. And I swear Malte even looks different when he plays August with Sara. He's such a talented actor. They're all just such amazing talents. I loved this episode, and not just because of the glorious costumes.

This is my absolute favorite episode, even after watching like 10 times every scene catches my full attention :) Love it!

I figured someone would tell you about what the fish scene really meant. I’ve seen an interview with Omar saying that was one of his favorite scenes because of that very meaning. And it’s part of the brilliance of the writing of the show because it shows you something without explicitly telling it. I think it’s a testament to how good an actor Malte is that even though you’ve hated August so much he makes you actually feel for him for a while. And I do think he genuinely has feelings for Sara. Remember, most people are not all good or all bad, and even people who behave badly can have endearing moments. It’s just that August‘s faults and greed always get the better of him.

I think the fish thing was telling us that Simon is still very much in love with Wilhelm and Simon getting together with Marcus is really just testing Simon and Wilhelm's love for each other. Simon needs proof beyond any shadow of a doubt that their love for each other hasn't wained. So we see that the proof is there when Simon and Wilhelm kiss in the garden and we can see the tremendous relief on Wilhelm's face after they kiss which shows that Simon's love for Wilhelm is as strong as ever.

Michael

The fish scene in season 1 was such a romantic and intimate moment for the two of them. It was the first time Wille came to Simon’s house. They were happily in love and carefree. And I think he cherishes that moment even to this day that he doesn’t want to share it with anybody else. That’s why he didn’t tell Marcus the name of the fish. It’s quite painful to watch because we can still see how much he’s still hurt but also that he’s still in love with Wille! ♥️👑

Frances

Interesting facts: Edvin shared that one of the most emotional scenes for him was the one of Wille putting the wig on and realizing he is becoming the image of a prince. And Edvin heard Simon's song for the first time recording that last scene. Beautiful!
