Pre-Stream Test
Added 2018-12-14 19:44:26 +0000 UTCI'm planning on doing a stream tomorrow in lieu of a standard video which is far from ready. I needed to test my new streaming setup using my new camera so I recorded a video of it. I've changed pretty much everything about how I stream to make it a bit less "streamery". I want it to look clean and only have information where and when it's needed. So the main camera view will be completely unobscured and I'll have a secondary view that has all the usual stream into.

I figure, if I'm going to do something I should try and do it as best as I possibly can! There were some other things I forgot to mention as well. On the info screen the goals on the left have a red line next to them. As I achieve each goal I'll be able to update a JSON file on my server and that line will move to the next goal showing the progress of the project. It's done in javascript as a web page that's overlayed in OBS. Later today I'm going to do the last thing I need and animate it in CSS so it moves smoothly rather than jump to the next position instantly. I'm going to call it good enough then, later I'll probably develop a simple android app or something that will just give me a next button I can hit on my phone. I already have upgrades planned for this setup some day. I want to replace my capture card with one that can do 1080p@60fps so I can do a more fluid stream. Eventually I'll probably get a better audio mixer/recorder that will let me control the audio sources on the fly much better. But that will also require a new mic that is XLR instead of USB. I just need to keep doing the upgrades one at a time and it will slowly continue to get better.
