Art supplies || Posca markers 🐞✨

Hi patrons !!

I bought some Posca markers for the first time and I spent a few hours yesterday try them out. Let me start by saying that what you'll see is definitely not my best work lol. Poscas are freaking hard to use, I know they are amazing for adding details to your illustrations and little touches, but I was interested in painting a whole illustration with them.

Here are some artists that I've been following during the past couple of months that inspired me to give posca markers a try:

Things By Diana

Tina Tran

James Chapman  (he's amazing!!)

Frida

They inspired me to try out a new style with very clean, simple shapes with a limited color palette, as if they were done in Illustrator rather than in Photoshop/Procreate, if that makes sense haha my artwork is always very messy and chaotic overall so I knew trying to do a clean linework/shapes was going to be a struggle.

These are the colors of the markers I bought:

At some point I'd like to invest on some more colors, like a light green, an orange or a darker pink. I also would love to buy some finer tips that would make the job so much easier. These are all PC-3.

Anyways, I sketched some portraits to paint. Again, these are not good, the paper didn't hold on very well for some reason and it started to tear out whenever I tried to add a second layer of paint. I was using my Moleskine sketchbook by the way, which has super nice paper and didn't give me any trouble before t.t

Another thing that went wrong (and that was completely my fault) I didn't wait until the paint dried completely to add more colors on top which makes the colors mix badly. That was terrible. Don't be like me, be more patient 😂😬

Perhaps that texture and little nubs of paper are related to the fact I didn't wait until it dried. So I'll be extra careful next time. And I truly need a finer tip marker for the lineart, because I don't want to use my regular black pens! But anyways, it ended up being a pretty colorful sketchbook page so I didn't mind the result in the end.

Hopefully I'll get better! Please let me know if any of you guys have experience using these type of markers, I'd love to hear your suggestions!

Here's another sketchbook page I'm more proud of, using my regular mediums: alcohol markers and gouache✨

That's it for today, talk to you soon!

Thanks so freaking much for your support 💖
