John Farnham-'HELP'-Beatles Cover Reaction & Breakdown

Hey all! This has now been blocked on YouTube for several days. While the dispute is being resolved I thought I'd share this with you all over here. This is a wonderful Australian vocalist who was highly recommended on my Kasey Chambers reaction. He has a spectacular voice and even though I'm bummed it was blocked for several days, I'm excited I get to share it with you all over here!

You must listen to him sing in Jesus Christ Superstar. Absolutely amazing singing.

I am soooo pleased you found him. A huge rabbithole of all genres for you to explore. Always do live. He had mouth cancer, with a huge reconstructive surgery a couple of years ago, so whether or not he sings publicly again is debatable. I first heard him sing this in 1980.

John started singing in the 60's and has had hits in every decade since. Unfortunately in 2022 he had a cancer diagnosis, can't remember if it was throat or mouth. Apparently he is singing around the house again but no public performances. Unfortunately for us. He is the ultimate showman. So live is always best. There is quite a rabbit hole to fall down if you are so inclined.

Great reaction Tim to our GOAT Farnsie. To see if his voice diminished over the years check out When The War Is Over, live the last time. He also has a crack at Opera (Grenada with Anthony Warlow), Classic Rock (Its a Long Way to the Top by ACDC and Black Dog by Led Zep), Theatre (Gethsemane), Classics (Bridge Over Troubled Water) and many many more.

I could see that, it’s really not like the original song very much at all.

The last time John performed was around 2019. Sadly due to cancer he needed surgery in 2022 that means he may never sing again. He's been performing since the 60s and can sing anything with skill & emotion. Pick an artist you know & you may find he's performed with them. I've heard there were artists who wanted him to tour outside of Australia, but he seemed not that interested in travelling too far from his family. Two things to keep in mind - this performance was at the end of a concert & he is always better live. Enjoy the ride!

This was cool! Thank you, Tim! I love being introduced to artists I've never heard of 💖🙋‍♀️

Interesting singing, but I’m honestly having trouble accepting it over the original melody, and asking, why?

I still have the 7-inch vinyl of “You’re the Voice” which is one of my long time favourites.

I still remember very clearly when I heard the song in german television for the first time many, many years ago and when the Internet came along and I found it again I was very happy. Goosebumps and sometimes even a tear :-)

Can you please react to Iron Sky by Paolo Nutini live Abbey Road live session. Spectacular

Rita

Hi Tim! Rita on Petreon but therosabella67 on YouTube . He has an amazing voice and made the song so different. He reminds me of Meatloaf and Michael Bolton.

John Farnham’s version of Gethsemene from Jesus Christ superstar is possibly the best version ever recorded. His band used to do Led Zeppelin’s black dog as a sound check, it puts the sound set up through its paces before a show and his voice is awesome for heavy stuff too. “You’re the Voice” is still brilliant. And his duet with Jimmy Barnes featuring Diesel for “when something is wrong with my baby” Is a soul classic. This was the last song in a 2 plus hour live concert filled with mind blowing vocal acrobatics. He kept his voice well into his 70s, it never diminished, recently had a throat cancer scare and stopped singing for obvious reasons but is likely to sing again.

John Farnham’s “you’re the voice” was huge here (in Norway” when it came out in 1986. Still a great track 😊 Don’t know a lot of his catalogue though, but the man can sing 🎵
