There was three kingdoms which are (Goryeo, Silla and Baekje). It was mentioned in this episode that the king Taejon, is the king of Goryeo. He’s the king who united the three kingdoms. After uniting the 3 kingdoms he replaced Goryeo with the new state of Joseon which is the last dynastic kingdom and the longest. “Korea” was derived from “Goryeo”. Everything in the drama is based on historical facts except IU’s character.
