PATREON EXTENDED: First Listen to The Warning ‘Dust to Dust/Dull Knives’

Comments

Dany has more power and more range than Ale or Pau according to Pau

I started following you and joined your Patreon with Chappell. Good music comes in all shapes and sizes. I never knew there were reaction videos until I fell down the Chappell rabbit hole. I am and old punker and rocker and can't get enough of these girls. They are bringing rock back.

CherylVD8

I was was also going to suggest Black Holes and Breathe with the drummer Pau playing piano and singing. Bring kleenex.

CherylVD8

Their performance of QOTMS at Lunario CDMX from November 25th, 2018 is the one to watch. In it you'll see Dany literally transform into the character of "The Queen" as they progress thru the story. Complete with an artistic video backdrop behind Pau, it's a sight and sonic experience to behold. Rock ON!!

Lorne Belongia

There's so much to dive into from The Warning with 4 albums and an EP thus far. I'd definitely recommend the Hell You Call A Dream from the Pepsi Center performance as others have said. Go back and watch the OMV for XXI Century Blood, their first music video as well as the title track of their first album. Narcisista from Foro Didi is a must - it was the debut of the song and Pau is full of attitude. Survive, any version is amazing. I particularly like either the TedX version or Pepsi Center. When I'm Alone is a Dany solo that will break your heart - she wrote it at 15 while at Berklee and homesick. Definitely do Pepsi Center's Black Holes and Breathe together. They were played that way, and that is the only time Breathe has ever been performed live. Evolve from the 2023 MTV VMAs is epic. Sharks at Pol'and'Rock is heavy as hell and fun. And Martirio at either Pepsi Center or Teatro Metropolitan is an anthem.

Sebrina

I can't wait to see you do the MTV VMA performances. When you eventually do "Evolve" and "More" Those are the definitive performances of each. It's often times hard to hear their 3 part harmonies, but in Evolve you can really hear Ale's low part quite well.

Hi Tim, I'm just join your patreon, I'm part of The Warning Army (TWA). I really enjoyed your reaction and your comments give me the better understanding why I love this band. They are "perfect" for me everytime when I listen their music. I'm 60 yrs old, I've listen rock since 70s, love all the great bands of rock from 60s 70s 80s but not too much in the next gens until The Warning appeared for me back in 2017. I'm a BIG fan and follower. In february I have tickets for 3 of the 5 concerts in Mexico, 2 in CDMX and 1 in Monterrey, my hometwon as well. Thanks again Tim. Larga Vida The Warning!

Luis Aguila

They do use a click track with some backing when needed to fill the sound better. As far as I know, they play and record all of it and Pau controls it all on her laptop behind the kit.

Believe it or not similar to John I only follow two Patreon accounts now I’ve been following the Warning for a year and now I’m following you. Love your breakdown. The album that those two songs are from Queen of the Murder Scene, which is about a girl who goes from desire to obsession to murder to psychosis . It was the drummer’s idea and she wrote most of it when she was in middle school and they recorded it when she was in middle school and the oldest Dany was in high school. Ale was only 12years old with this album. Pau said she was going through her emo phase, which is hilarious. really excellent album. You should check out more of it and their live performance of it. I think it’s at the Dakota or whiskey can’t remember.

Dusty

I only follow two Patreon accounts. The Warning since the girls station And now I’m following you sir since you gave a great unbiased analysis of one of my favorite bands. (Presently my favorite ) Also love learning more about vocal techniques. From a long time rocker and TWA member thank you!!

John Clark

I joined your Patreon after watching your reaction on YouTube. I'm a drummer, but I love learning about all aspects of music. As a drummer, I'll say that Paulina (The Warning's drummer) is seriously underrated. It's wild to say that about someone who was Drumeo's 2023 Rock Drummer of the Year, but it's true. She often sets up a "Pau Cam" behind her and streams it, then uploads it to YouTube. It's amazing to watch. She has the best bass pedal technique I've seen, period. She plays a lot of ghost notes and accents and triplets...while singing. The sky is the limit for these ladies. They're going places!

Joshua Spiers

Please react to "Hell You Call A Dream" LIVE from the Pepsi Center. You will hear Dany's Vocals at the highest quality I've heard. Yes their are many other songs she does a great job at. "Choke" is another one...

Russell griffin

If you want to hear the other side of the trio, check out their SiriusXm cover of Alanis Morissette's You Oughta Know. Another amazing performance.

Robert Anderson

Fantastic stuff, Tim. I put some comments on the YT page with your extended analysis of D2D/DK. One suggestion is the two MTA 2023 VMAs songs they did, MORE and EVOLVE.

Peter Barr-Gillespie

Thanks, Andy, I’m looking forward to exploring lots from this wonderful band. And when I do, I will do an initial reaction on YouTube and post an extended reaction over here on Patreon. Thanks for joining my journey!

Hey!

Tim Welch Vocal Studio

This is the first time I have ever joined a patreon and I am doing so because I was so impressed by your initial reaction that I had to join to hear the complete breakdown of the performance. You will not lack song recommendations from TWA. We are truly fanatical about this band. You can't go wrong with any live performance of theirs from any stage of their development. Welcome to your new obsession.

Andy Williams

Hello Tim

Andy Williams

So great to have you all here with me. You can expect many more reactions to them. 🔥🙌🏼

Tim Welch Vocal Studio

Wow, that’s an amazing idea! That would be fun

Tim Welch Vocal Studio

Queen of the Murder Scene is a great album and during the Lunario performance Dany really embodies the role of the Queen but a personal favorite performance is "Crimson Queen" from their Foro Didi performance. Dany's guitar mic/pickup battery fails and she basically does the song a cappella. It's pretty special.

paul rowe

What about reacting to the MTV unplugged version of Black by Pearl Jam? It's really raw!

Anne

the next song? Hell you call a dream from the Pepsi Center

Torsten Vaquet

the whole second album is an opera. "Queen of the murder scene". this songs are starting this

Torsten Vaquet

Welcome to the rabbit hole that is The Warning. The Warning Army (TWA) is massive. Expect some reactions from us. I've joined your Patreon solely because I was impressed with your very first reaction of the bad.

Kris Culin

She’s amazing!

If in your journey down The Warning rabbit hole, you want a good way to experience Queen of the Murder Scene, IMO watch the full Lunario CDMX 2018 concert. Just be aware that there are songs from their first album mixed in that aren’t part of the QOTMS storyline.

Andrew

For your next reaction to The Warning… ANY live performance from their official YouTube page (for best audio quality). ⚡️🤘🏻

Andrew

I joined Patreon just to support you as a long time Warning fan. There are a ton of Warning reactors out there, but very few go nto the vocal depths besides passing comments like "ooh singing drummer!" or "love the harmonies." Definitely hoping for more breakdowns. Where you go next depend on what you want. Personally I'd recommend the MTV Awards performance of Evolve. Excellent vocal piece, high quality recording, and a variety of vocal techniques. It is also the performance that really put The Warning into the mainstream conscience in the USA.

Brandon Hord

Hi Tim, been away during the Holidays, looking at what I have to catch up on, I had to start with this one because I do love your deep dives, we get more context and I understand more, this was great, your animated response made it so. This is another new genre that you are treating me to, and while I probably wouldn't listen regularly, I would love to attend one of their concerts, it looks exciting. Glad to be back, can't wait to catch up!

Bill Hall

Queen of the Murder Scene is a story of a woman (unnamed, just called The Queen,) who is romantically obsessed with another person, who apparently doesn't even know of her existence. So the entire album takes place in the Queen's head, how she goes from obsession to madness and murder and dies in the end. The first song, Dust to Dust, is the ghost of the Queen at her funeral, asking us to come in and hear her sorry tale of how things can go wrong. Dull knives is about the midpoint where she is battling the good side against the bad side in her head and contemplating suicide. Pretty heavy stuff for middle school kids, but it's quite a masterpiece. Midway through it takes a lighter turn as it becomes almost a Harley Quinn comic vibe, daring the police to catch her. An enormous musical and lyrical accomplishment for teens to pull off.

Jim Kiley

These ladies have worked very, very hard their entire lives to be as good as they are. They totally love what they do and they have enormous appreciation for their fans and supporters. Everyone knows that what Pau, the drummer does is difficult, singing while drumming often complicated rhythms, but it's less often recognized that Guitarist/vocalist Dany, does the same thing. Very often she is playing an individual note-picked pattern while singing, not just bar chords. I've watched many of her guitar masterclasses on their Patreon where she breaks down one of their songs from start to finish and a great deal of thought goes into every part of the song.

Jim Kiley

I've seen some other reactors really emphasizing your channel lately and was hoping you would check out The Warning. I really like your approach and your breakdowns. Great reaction!! I look forward to many more! Anything from the Pepsi Center concert or Teatro Metropolitan would be great choices for a follow up. A fan favorite from this concert is Hell You Call A Dream, their reimagined cover of Enter Sandman (which has Alessia Cara on a vocal track since The Warning and Alessia Cara collaborated for the Metallica's Black List album), and Martirio (which is one of their few all Spanish songs). But, in reality, you can't go wrong with anything from those two concerts. 🤘⚡

Chris

Take the time on the last belting Dany does on D2D and in just one breath and at 7000+ feet above the sea level! For you amusement… https://youtu.be/AuPDYrYcjh4?si=Ev504b3cnli0WZJV

SyriusOne

Proud member of The Warning Army who signed up after watching your video earlier today. This Pepsi Center concert was fantastic. I was lucky enough to be part of the 8000 strong crowd that night. It is one of the best life performances I have seen in nearly 50 years of concert going. Hell You Call A Dream is another good choice. I would suggest Choke to hear them all sing. Or Evolve from the MTV VMAs as another high energy banger partly on odd meter. There is a lot of good material in their catalog, even though they are still very young. Live, on stage, is where they really do shine. One of the things I really like about them is that they often use their three-part harmony voices in place of where other bands might put keyboard or guitar stabs. It’s almost like having a fourth member on stage. Not many groups are able to pull that off.

PhilT (Yeni)

Please react to Hell You Call a Dream from Pepsi Center next. Amazing vocals on that one.

Matthew Scebbi

These two songs are part of "Queen of the murder scene," a concept album they wrote, performed. and released while they were all still teenagers! It's about a woman so obsessed with a man that she goes insane and kills him and then herself. You can see the video of "Enter Sandman they did when Dany was 14, Pau 12 and Ale 9. They put it on Youtube so their grandparents could see it and it went viral, basically starting their careers. Even Metallica was impressed.
