1st Listen 'GAIA'-POLAND'S ENTRY FOR EUROVISION 2025

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS VIDEO! Please watch this video first above of my first impression listen through and then proceed on to watching the YouTube DEEP ANALYSIS video linked here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTmeMRWc5oU

As you all know, I am working on finding the right processes for this complex world of being a Youtuber. I can't thank you all enough for your patience as well as input on these changes as I move forward.

NEWEST UPDATES

TWITCH TODAY AT 2PM!

Twitch Day! And NEW REN SONG TODAY 2pm EST RIGHT!? OK so here's how the Twitch is going to go today. (For those of you that don't know I'm doing regular twitch live streams Thursdays at 2pm EST from now on.)  I'm going to start off with an Ado reaction, then I'm going to check out a Band-Maid song, and that should get us to 230 at which point I will listen to Ren's new song which will be also dropping at 2 PM today my time. By that time it should already be uploaded so I will be able to listen to it a second time through with you all on camera. So once you've had your first listen over there with Ren, come on over and join me and we'll go through it some more and break it down a bit.

Also, these first couple Twitch hangs will be public for all as I'm figuring out the logistics on doing this, looking forward to seeing you over there in a bit!

WHICH VIDEOS GO ON YOUTUBE AND WHICH ONES GO ON PATREON?

I'm experimenting with a new process, I'm not sure this will be my final one. My process had been to do my deep dive analyses over here for you all while I do a surface level first impression reaction on YouTube. I am running into problems though with that process because if I just do a surface level listen through, that means I am going to be listening to larger chunks of the song. When I listen to larger chunks of the song without stopping, that causes the real copyright issues on Youtube. If I listen to too much of the song, YouTube just blocks the video completely like it did again yesterday. I'm going to be giving this a shot for a bit to see how it goes, I’ll keep you posted if I need to change it back. The only way for me to figure this stuff out is I have to do some experimenting.

So excited having you all on this journey with me and I'll see you in the chats!

Cheers,

Tim

Novel ahead, but I have some time. Here's a real Kikuo acid trip, "Hole Dwelling" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I15sK7dNMOM He also makes music for real singers. Did two great albums with the utaite Hanatan back in 2016-17 and one of the debut songs for the retro-horror idol group (Phantom Siita) Ado produces and coaches. Vocaloid predates "AI" (LLM) tech by almost two decades, it's early 2000's tech. The latest (6th) iteration of the software has some optional AI features but it's still not generative AI vocals. It's voice banks that have been manually recorded by real singers and manually tuned by producers. All the big producers have their own distinct tunings. It just didn't take off anywhere except Japan where the current top 3 artists are: Ado. Vocaloid cover singer, songs by dozens of different vocaloid producers. Yaosobi. A pop duo of a singer and a vocaloid producer. Kenshi Yonezu. Former vocaloid producer turned singer-songwriter, used to go by Hachi. And yes, there are "live" performances by and alongside Vocaloids! The big Vocaloid concerts with holographic projections are held by the companies created the Vocaloids. Here's a song from metalcore producer and musician Utsu-P at Magical Mirai, one of the aforementioned concerts. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=excoWa1QV1w Here's Ado doing a duet with Miku at the Olympic Stadium. This song is a love song from her to Vocaloid and the community. Written by her friend and fellow cover singer MafuMafu - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vrr2gFTYMGQ Here's Reol dueting with Miku, another Vocaloid producer who's also a big electro-pop star. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jt_8Ek2tiLA

Your engagement on the YT part of this is pretty massive. Closing on 500 comments, and 7500 views for 17 hours. You clearly have engaged the fan base of the artist, and their comments seem to be pretty respectful of your process, and observations. So you are clearly on the right page for your reactions. Your proofs of where the backing track was used via the software and your careful explanation of its results is a perfect method for presenting this sort of information to a core fanbase. You are getting very little in the way of rage attacks for taking a swing at their 'leader' So your method seems to be on point for what you want to do. But this is a very good expansion of your project, and is showing how good YT is getting with spreading your clips via algorithm. YT is clearly liking what you're doing and is pushing more ad support onto your clips, at opening and embedded now. The AI has noted you. :) I found the piece interesting, and enjoyed being exposed to it, as it's not something I would have found on my own. The singer is clearly skilled, and has some real chops. I hope she comes out of the Eurovision experience with a solid fanbase bump and continues to break out. I think your split format is a good idea to avoid the copyright strikes that come from your full listens. I think those full listens are part of your process that matters and they give a great view of your own enjoyment and engagement with the pieces. So having them somewhere is important I think. Splitting them off here into Patreon is a good solution. It will encourage some fans to join to see them, or just sample if you have them on the free tier. A good solution.

So, some infolinks for Aishite Aishite Aishite. Here's Kikuo's Vocaloid original with lyrics (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTrm_idbhUk). Here's Ado's studio version with lyrics, including transliteration so you can see what she is saying (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKXRjEPk9u0). It's kinda vague, but it's about someone that was neglected by their parents as a child and as a result has developed an obsessive need to be loved at all times - by their parents, teachers and then romantically by their teenage classmates. Kikuo makes extremely experimental, weird and often disturbing music, very much psychological horror. Yet somehow it's always catchy as hell... I could give you some recs if you want.

These are the rules for Eurovision. I didn’t get the chance to listen to the whole reaction yet, but none the less «Before 2020, all vocals were required to be performed live, with no natural voices of any kind or vocal imitations allowed on backing tracks. The Croatian entry at the 1999 contest was sanctioned after the contest for including synthesised male vocals in defiance of this rule, with Croatia subsequently penalised through the docking of their score at that year's contest by 33% for the purposes of calculating their five-year points average for use in determining which countries would be relegated in future contests. Ahead of the 2021 contest, in an effort to make the contest more flexible to change following the cancellation of the 2020 edition and to facilitate modernisation, recorded backing vocals were permitted as an optional addition. An example of this is Iceland's 2021 entry "10 Years", which used a choir in the bridge of the song. Delegations are still free to provide live backing vocals if they prefer, and all lead vocals performing the melody of the song, including by the lead vocalist(s) and any supporting vocalists, must still be performed live.» So imo lead vocals should be live, but now I’m a skeptic 🤨
