Hi Tim, finally I'm on the Patreon 🙂 This is Lara's flagship song! Released in 1996 and played live up to this day There are a million live versions, as you said the one you picked is good for the emotional factor but the crowd does most of the job 😄 So it's nice that you went for the original studio version I still love the Q & A that is generated in the chorus between her and the crowd with the "On t'aime....je t'aime" As our expert Eric already listed some options for another live version of this I'm just going to vote for my favorite, and it has to be the one from En Toute Intimité show in 2003. I think you'll really appreciate it, it kicks an already great song up a notch

Wonderful to see you here, Eric, with you I can always be comfortable knowing the information given will be detailed, accurate and full of love for the subject.

Tim, there is a rule with Lara: always prefer her live renditions. She is unique in the sense she is 1000% better live than in studio. She needs an audience to connect to in order to feed her emotional soul and give her best. That’s why for instance Tommy Mottola, head of Sony Music, tried to reproduce these conditions when they recorded Adagio in studio and surprised Lara by inviting his friends Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Ray Liotta and Al Pacino in the studio just before the recording was kicked off. Here are 4 good options for live renditions of this classic Je T’Aime, with very different styles of perfs. - soft and delicate in the En Toute Intimité concert, 2003: https://youtu.be/b7medSoc2fA?si=-9cYbY-AWiMhXwFL Don’t react to this one if you want to cover the concert as initially planned. - the 1999 version during the World Music Awards: raw, powerful and intense, triggering a standing ovation from her peers. The host had butchered her name and award category (happened before the recording started in this video) and it ignited her warrior mode https://youtu.be/UsQ1F7o6ogE?si=QIdnNSbGaUzzQQtl - Her live renditions in London, Royal Albert Hall, in 2011, with Igor Krutoy at the piano. Performed in a tribute event to Mikhail Gorbatchev, at his request, as it was the favorite song of his late wife. She performed it with 2 vertebrae broken, a metal corset, and some pain relievers, but yet it is one of her iconic renditions https://youtu.be/6i9U9E_jcgM?si=DICkLi-6D_XlMaZZ - a performance she did a few days ago in a private concert for a radio, just recovering from a flu that led her to cancel some events that same week. Still amazing. https://youtu.be/s8ksBewJ1qY?si=9EE-LPZiFj0SSWmq

It was Elizabeth Zharoff, of "The Charismatic Voice!", that said (several years ago) in her REACTION, "Singing with a paralyzed stomach?! Emma Kok "Voilà" Analysis", that ""...this is so amazing I, I just wanted to let it run for a bit because I feel these waves of emotion, I just, it's incredible and mesmerizing and how can you not be moved, wow. Amazing I'm going to go back, she, I think if I were to say one thing about her, is she just hits me as the next Lara Fabian. She's amazing. I love the delivery of the lyrics, but there's certain raw powerful emotion that is surging through her voice, and this openness, the willingness to share that emotion in music. So, when I heard Elizebeth's comment above, I said the same thing everyone who hears Lara for the first time say, "Who's Lara Fabian?". That was 3 years ago. Naturally curious, I watched Elizabeth's 3 prior REACTIONS to Lara Fabian. The reason I recall this is because it was the FIRST TIME I had ever heard the name "Lara Fabian" and fans kept calling her "THE RING", and "La Reine". After watching her "Sony Music" produced "Adagio" official music video (just eclipsed 60M views) I was dumbfounded. Have I uncovered the most legendary Time Capsule of the greatest Vocal Treasure LOST in America? Its a fascinating and very frustrating story. As you pursue this "rabbit hole", you will likely become exponentially puzzled. "How is this possible I have never heard of her?" is the typical reaction. Normally it takes content providers at least 3 or 4 songs before they start asking that question. It haunts anyone that "trips over" this Master's vocal time capsule, and it is just endless, timeless, and keeps going. Yes, I know, you hear that from fans all the time. This is REALLY different, and the good news is we are not too late. Her 2025 world tour starts in June in London, and will be in Paris in December. I plan to get a double dose of "The RING". Every concert Lara does is a "concert of concerts". "From Lara with Love" is not simply a concert title, its a message to YOU. But that concert just scratches the surface, and then you can go to concert "Nue" (in English, "Naked"), which is another message from Lara to YOU, it effectively means "here is my story, here is my life, let's spend a couple hours together and I'll sing my story to YOU". Then comes concert "En toute intimité" (in English, "In All Privacy/Intimacy" and it certainly feels that way), where she sings 19 songs, all masterpieces. You still only have 200+ more to go. The good news? Lara's upcoming "Je T-aime" 2025 Worldwide Tour starts June 3, 2025. I was a stunned a few years ago "Why" I'd never heard of Lara Fabian. The ONLY vocal Master I could think of in Lara's unique Musical Context World was "Babs". It turns out, "Babs" was Lara's most influential idol, just like Lara became Dimash most influential idol. The students became the teachers. What I do know since I discovered (no, I accidently tripped over) this LOST treasure, above all the accolades, above all the adjectives, her fans adore her because she is down to earth and just cares about telling them about her life through her Musical Context. And her story is full of intrigue, ups and downs, victories, defeats, and a Legendary endurance. And she tells her fans every day she is still here because of them, "Je Suis La", "Je T-aime", I could not have done it, "Pas Sans Toi". Since then I've heard so many comments, obtained so much information from true superfans, Eric S. and Robert S., @Royal_BLT, too many to name. Adjectives in thousands of REACTIONs/Analysis from Content Providers, trained and experienced Music professionals, Voice Coaches, and associated comments. Including but not limited to "GENIOUS", "A vocal gift to the world", "other worldly", "A voice from another planet", "the best person on the planet to sing this song is Lara Fabian", "I want to sing like this when I grow up", "If you want to sing with EMOTION, study this", "eyes that expose her soul", "Is it just me or does her smile just light up the stage?", "The ultimate storyteller", "I am blown away by her", "stunning and emotional breath control" , "artful effective use of power", "Shivers down my back", "she is fearless and fearsome", "captivating and haunting eyes with emotive facial expression", "You rarely see Vocal and Thespian Master Class combination like this", "she should be on Broadway", "She deserves her flowers now!", "Oh, Blimy!", "The RINGonance", "The Master of the trials and tribulations of love/relationships", "If I practiced every day for a hundred years, I could never sing like this", "my goosebumpometer just redlined". I stopped trying to figure out which of her 200+ songs was my favorite Lara Fabian song, its endless, so my favorite Lara Fabian song is the next one I get to hear. "Kev"

They changed "Je T'aime" to "On T'aime"... She also writes and dedicates a song to them "Pas Sans Toi" {"Not Without You"} Every concert Lara does is a "concert of concerts". Thank you Tim for bringing me more Lara :) You speak of Grit a good bit so I have a perfect song for you . You will hear a Lara you have never heard before check out her duet with French rocker Johnny Halliday "Requiem pour un fou" it is live and wow just wow https://youtu.be/zR1rkt_0biA?si=c9U1DHZ5Hf3UYSKq .This link has subtitles but a more official version may be around this is just the one I know.

Magda

I have no interest in negativity so I will simply say that she was going through a low point, personally and professionally a point full of so much pain that even we (her fans) felt it. So we (her fans) wanted her to know that she was loved and supported and would be upheld by us in all things. And thus this moment was planned by fans and her piano player to remind her that she matters and is loved by a multitude of people around the world who would share her pain and their love. Thus the audience changed the lyric to WE LOVE YOU and sang it to her loud and strong offering her a shield of love against her heartache that she could always look back at when she needed to remember her place in the hearts of so many.

Magda

Thank you so much, Kevin for providing the link to the live version without the audience I think we all can agree when it comes to Lara live is the way to go . This is my personal favorite, because of why it happened but I recognize it suffers if you want to react to her voice alone..

It's this one Tim. Definitely never the Music Video. Ugh, We know what producers do to those. Do this Live version. It the best among hundreds. Use the Full Concert Version of "En Toute Intimite" and start at this Timestamp. Pierre Grimard is fantastic as well. https://youtu.be/NMHym4N4UXo?si=KzLxP5tPlFy9shRM ""Je t'aime" from Concert "En toute intimité" [TimeStamp 00:32:35 - 00:37:50 with Lyrics in FULL CONCERT Video] song 7 of 19 Note: You must use this version to get embedded English Lyrics and must start from those Timestamps."
