DEEP VOCAL ANALYSIS-'Ruthlessness'-EPIC: The Musical
Added 2025-05-05 13:13:14 +0000 UTCI meant to get to this one a while back but I finally got it up now. Such an interesting one to do a deep dive on because he uses rock vocal techniques at a level we haven't heard before in this musical.

Steven's voice was what originally got me into the musical, and even with the many other ridiculously talented singers that come before and after the ocean saga, he remains a clear favorite for me precisely because of the grit and texture :) Also, I love that the song starts off with a chanting of Poseidon's name, almost mocking the way Odysseus kept his own name secret until the end of his encounter with the cyclops, the sea god is not at all careful with letting Odysseus know exactly who is coming for him.
