Random Ass Elephant

So, I wanted to post this up, A, because I'm very proud of this little baby elephant I just drew, and B, to chat a bit about drawing outside of your style for a bit.  I did this line drawing for my cousin's baby shower, and as I was doing it I felt so excited to be drawing in a style so unlike my usual output.  It felt refreshing and comforting all at the same time.  It's nice to take a step back and breath a bit, shake out the cobwebs, see the world and the page from a different vantage point again.

It's no secret I've been in a bit of a rut the last few years and there's really no stopping time or responsibility.  This year is going to bring a lot of changes for me and I can't allow a rut to get in the way of my own goals.  When you do art for a career it can get really daunting - the pressure to maintain consistent output (thanks algorithms), being your own boss if you're freelance, and feeling trapped by your style and then dreading the process of making art.  I guess this post is a PSA for remembering to explore different styles, different mediums, different ways to tackle a piece.  It can really do wonders for your creative health.

Also wanted to say hi to all the new subscribers!  Thank you so much for being my patrons, everyone.  I cannot tell you how much it means to me.  If you're still in the old tier prices don't forget to change to the cheaper ones!
