Well, this video was incredibly hard to make.
Not just because "On Repeat: How Music Plays the Mind" is an incredibly complicated book, but also because almost all of my equipment has started dying all at once?
One of my HDMI cables stopped working.
My CPU fan will now only turn on every third reboot.
The left click stopped working on my mouse in the middle of the night (even though I play a crapton of games and you'd figure that the right mouseclick would go first...).
The video editing software I use decided to just delete one of the clips I was using, and then started freaking out that it couldn't find the clip.
Oh and the apartment just randomly started doing some kind of construction somewhere (we still can't figure out what they were doing) while I was in the middle of recording audio.
So yeah, fun times.
But other than that, this book is kinda making me lose my mind.
I don't think I'm really doing it justice in how well it justifies that repetition of every variety is critical, if not integral for people to enjoy music.
Which in the world of leitmotifs, which is just planned repetition, kinda feels like a massive explanation for the technique on a deeply visceral level.
It's left me a lot to think about.....a LOT to think about...
