So in earnest, I'm really happy that I started getting messages and requests for musicals, because for the longest time I had heard that there was something about this musical that academics loved.
Like, for example, my composition professor had it on the mandatory listening list that he handed out to incoming students. Which was weird considering how a lot of the music on that list was pretty atonal.
My only regret is that I couldn't go into more detail, there's a LOT written on this musical; apparently, it even uses a tone row during one of the songs!
I even found a dissertation about only a few of the numbers in this work and even that barely talked about everything that went into this video.
But either way, it was a fun dive.
