Patreon 0.24.0.15 - Miscellaneous & Quality of Life

Dear patrons, our latest version 0.24.0.9 has truly marked an important milestone for us, paving the way for what's to come for HC in terms of user experience and library management. Although there is still much to do before we can consolidate and offer both a true game and application launcher with the HC application, we have decided to devote our time to refining this version, improving the overall user experience, and fixing a few remaining bugs. Let's quickly review them.

Suspend on overlay

This new setting, available through the profile page allows you to pause the active foreground process when Quicktools is summoned. This can be useful in games that can't be paused or when you're not using HC virtual controller and don't want your inputs to be passed to a game while navigating Quicktools.

Refreshed Quicktools

With this new release, we're allowing users to define a new set of on-screen locations for Quicktools window: Top left and Top right. But we've also slightly shrunk the window and added a new top actions bar which allows you (as of today) to summon an on-screen keyboard while we figure out which other actions could be there at all time. Please share suggestions.

Controler Mode frustration

When we implemented Controller Mode hotkey, we made it so clicks would circle from Gamepad mode to Desktop mode to Automatic mode and received quite a few complains about Automatic mode. We heard you and changed the hotkey behavior to be as follow:

• Single click/activation : Switch between Gamepad, Desktop modes.

• Double click/activation : Enable Automatic mode.

Layout Mapper: Button to Trigger

On popular demand, we've implemented the option to map buttons to trigger actions.

Controller management

We've improved the ROG Ally (all versions) and MSI Claw (all versions) controller management which suffered from issues when devices would wake-up from sleep. We've also restored proper compatibility with the Steam Controller and added the ability to switch layout mode between Xbox and Nintendo when using the Gamesir Tarantula Pro. We've also reverted our previous bluetooth controller management because bluetooth radio management had too many side effects.

Miscellaneous Improvements

• Improved translation with less hardcoded values, revised Simplified Chinese (Sanhei) and Korean translation (Hijae Song).

• Improved overall memory consumption which should result in smaller memory footprint and lesser leaks.

• Improved UI experience with theme and color fixes, faster navigation and migrating a few UI elements to SettingsCard and SettingsExpander.

• Improved multi-screen management specific to AYANEO Flip DS.

• Improved foreground application detection logic.

• Improved toast (notification) management. Now enabled by default.

• Restored the ability to navigate UI with gamepad sticks.

Bugfixes

• Fixed an issue preventing proper gamepad gyro calibration.

• Fixed an issue preventing proper movement display from the controller 3D model.

• Fixed an issue preventing UI navigation with gamepad with a few specific UI components and during page navigations.

• Fixed an issue causing a crash when device had no gyrometer and no accelerometer (tested on ASUS ROG Flow Z13 GZ302).

• Fixed an issue affecting MSI Claw default power profiles. This is not retroactive, users needs to head to %mydocuments%\HandheldCompanion\powerprofiles and remove the ExtremePerformance, Balanced, SupperBattery json files.
