Excelsior Episode 6: Career Counseling

Stand up comedian Brody Stevens took his own life last week, and it has the comedy world a little shook. On the surface, he was a guy that was in a position a lot of us would like to be in, but somehow it still didn't feel right to him. It's got us thinking about our own career choices, which inevitably leads to us thinking about the past. Zak shares some anecdotes about weird job experiences he's had, which will hopefully remind people that we're all going through our own difficulties while trying to figure out what the hell we're supposed to be doing. Who knows, maybe it'll even inspire you to become an umpire.

I love the part about you not respecting anyone until they've cleaned up a piece of human shit from under a couch. I was walking down Lexington Ave one day talking to a friend, going on a mini-rant about how the pampered 20-somethings in my office never had to do a truly shitty job because they all went to camps and had internships their parents arranged for them, and said that you have no clue what life is actually about until you've worked a terrible job - and this woman stopped me and my friends, shook both of our hands, told us we couldn't be more right and then walked away. Surreal moment but felt appropriate.
