Playing Dead PS5 Live Service Games in 2025 - [EXTENDED]

Hello Patrons! After I wrapped up PS3 Online for the year this one just sorta hit me since there's been so much industry discussion surrounding live service games. Definitely with the PlayStation side of things (that conversation is getting exhausting at this point). BUT, this definitely seemed like a crazy parallel to examine.

Oftentimes, we look at these decade old games and can usually find some players. But shockingly, we've got similar results for games that cost 5x the budget, and came out within the last few years on modern hardware. This also just seemed like a great excuse to spend some time with these kinds of games. And well, for better or worse, it was certainly a sobering experience! Here's the extended cut with just a tad more context on the games I looked at.

I'm curious how this one will do. Surely this won't be a new annual tradition..? Right?
