🟢 First count
📅 Days until show: 202
🗒️ I’ve color-coded all unopened/unused sections with black dots for clarity (note: disregard the 2 floor sections color coded).

The initial plan was to wait for resale tickets to appear on the map before releasing this update, but those have been slow to populate. If resales significantly alter the count, I’ll provide an immediate update.

This estimate was prepared with the assistance of Brandon Thurston from Wrestlenomics. Subscribe to his service here. His work provided invaluable support in mapping and organizing the data, which helped greatly in creating this update. The second screenshot is a sample of how he was able to map all x, y values onto a chart and visualize it using a library called Plotly denoting specific categories to distinguish them.

During one of the presales, a significant number of tickets disappeared from the map—not at the beginning, but randomly later on. I needed help identifying specific full rows that were removed, as including them would have inflated the estimate. This is why I was initially waiting for resale data to determine if any of those rows were occupied via resale.

While those rows aren’t color-coded on this map (I might revisit that later), the estimate excludes them to maintain accuracy. Additionally, there are some unopened back rows on the floor and a few in the limited number of 300-level sections currently opened. There was also times where several empty rows made sense to include and that's why I had to go through each individual section.

Tony Khan mentioned after the public on-sale that the show had surpassed $1.25 million at the gate, driven by strong VIP sales. There are currently 569 VIP tickets available. This statement didn’t have a significant impact on this estimate, as the high price of VIP tickets meant only a modest number needed to be sold to reach that total. The implied average ticket price for the tickets distributed so far is $125, which will decrease over time as more standard-priced tickets are sold (the cheapest ticket is $31).

The available count was closer to 9,000 after the public on-sale and has steadily decreased to the current number (8,150) since then. I will undoubtedly set up a tracker for this show as soon as possible.

The screenshot below shows the map before approximately 5,000 tickets were removed at once. The "unavailable_entire_row" category in the screenshot above was 5,333, identified using straightforward criteria: if a row was completely empty, it was counted. If those tickets weren’t distributed through business, radio, family comps, or resale, there’s a strong possibility they could return to the map. Of course, if a section was selling well, this category wouldn’t apply to that specific section.

Comments

Baseball Stadiums are ideal due to their Amphitheatre design. Once you get to ~15K, you’ve pretty much topped out on how it’s gonna look on TV.

AEW.ONE

Double the normal advance, lots of a time. I think they can move the available amount right now, 18kish. I think if they comp the crap out of this it'll be fine. The goal now should be 25k.

Will

I think 12k would had been more ideal but time on their side.

Adam I

Not great but not bad.

Adam I

Need to sell an average of 50 a day to get to 20,000 and 100 a day to get to 30,000

ItsNotThatSerious

What does NJPW attendance in Japan have to do with AEW's attendance in Texas? I honestly don't get the comparison

ItsNotThatSerious

Again I don't get all the doom and gloom I'm seeing about this number. Is it mildly disappointing? 100% but it isn't an outright disaster. My guess is they get around 20k paid and have 25k-ish in the buliding and that's about what the 2016 Tokyo Dome did with Okada/Tana on top

Evan B

If they get another 10k in 3 months I’ll give them 35 k show time

K.Main

It’s not a ground breaking opening, but for a show franchise you just started 2 years ago and in a city you’ve never sold more than 6k or so tickets in, this is a good number. They’ll have more money to market this one than any show in their history, wouldn’t be shocked to see well over 20k

Ben

It's good mate, especially when wwe is hot, aew doing this is good. They didn't have Copeland or omega returned yet. Eddie didn't returned yet. All the above ones are good draws, and I'm sure they'll draw more seats once they return

balamox

Not a great start or anything but better than expected. At least I’m longer worried about it moved to an arena or anything like that

Hazem Abdo

Honestly don’t know what to think of this one. I mean it’s not bad but I can’t feel that good about it. Just feel okay about it. I know in the past AEW will do probably double and I don’t think I’m exaggerating. Regardless, this is one I will continue to follow. We don’t know how the pacing goes for this show, maybe aside the last week before showtime, so it’s anyone’s guess.

James

This is a good start. For sure when Copeland and omega returns, they'll move even more.
