App Update: AI Rolling Start v1.6

V1.6 Fixes a couple of the bugs introduced by the new class system in v1.5.

Hi Scott, I haven't got the UI created for the rolling start app yet! If you open the Nuzzis_Rolling_Start_App.lua file. At the top, I have left the user vars for you to change settings to your preference. Thanks :)

Hi, I cant get any of the options to showup within the app on how to set speed, distance etc.

Hi Nuzzi, thanks for doing this great mod. I must be doing something stupid, I cannot get it to work. I have tried CSP versions, installing / uninstalling / installing, different tracks. But the start is just normal every time. Is there something I am missing?

Hi Nuzzi! Loving you work but finding rolling starts are not working for me at all. When I start a race session all the cars will roll forward, stop, then get sent to the pits. If I restart the session they all just race as normal. Have tried on CSP 0.2.3, 0.2.2, 0.2.2 and 0.2.0. Have deleted and reinstalled and have tried with and without class starts. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Nuzzi, thank you for your answer. In these days I've run some tests with your apps on verious versions of CSP and had some observations to share. Starting off with the fact that the main reason of the problem I told you in this sction was not app-related: basically, after recording some new AI lines and boundaries for Road Atlanta, some grid spots found themselves out of those boundaries so the corresponding cars would not start the race. I just modified the boundaries again to include those grid spots and everything was ok. Then, during my experiments I downgraded to CSP 0.2.2 (the public version), but the problem manifested itself in an even bigger way (lot of the cars got stuck on the grid causing the entire field to retire, in every track I tested at). I initially thought it was because of the apps, but actually seems that it was a problem regarding the patch itself. So I decided to run with the very last paid version of CSP (0.2.3preview211, I usually run with 0.2.3preview1) and all the cars started properly, at least. But then appeared another problem: basically my car and only my car would get stuck on the limiter despite the green flag, only to get out much later , fiding myself being dead last with a ton of gap from the other AI cars that instead took off as intended. I'm still trying to figure out the exact moment where my car would take off, just to see if there would be some sort of coincidence. EDIT: apparently, my car would take off only after the last car of the class above mine would cross the line, and this despite having the class system not enabled. More observations coming up regarding other apps later, but I will answer you in other posts, suince they're for the vast majority concerning the Pit Strategy app. Thank you again for your work!

Deleting, or commenting out, line 163: physics.forceUserThrottleFor(0.25, 0) will remove the speed limiter for the player. :)

Hi Simone, I haven't got CSP 0.2.3 supported yet, and it appears to have some AI changes which are very likely causing your issues. If you can drop-down then please do so, if not, once the version becomes fully available I will make any changes needed so it is supported! Thanks

Hello Nuzzi. CSP version: 0.2.3 preview1, Patreon version I don't know why, but every time I try to do a rolling start, 90% of the cars I choose (from VRC and RSS, so basically prototypes, old GT cars and Supertourers) remains stuck on the grid without moving and thus retire immediately. I tried to tinker with the settings (changing throttle limit and speed , enabling and disabling the class feature), but to no avail. I tried on different tracks to see if was a problem with the grid itself, but the result is the same. Could you suggest some actions to take?

Works now :D after the first 1.6 install it didn’t and I had the same problem as I mentioned before. But then I unchecked the ‘use sparse grid’ option in the new Ai behaviour section. After that it worked like it should I guess. Only question I still have is, would it be possible to keep the rows a bit closer and tighter behind each other and really as a two lane row rather than a string of slower driving cars who drive behind other than next to each other? Nevertheless cheers for all your hard work and quick response!

Thanks for your answer. yes a video would be cool. You probably know the rolling start mod from moddb. If the cars start like that, it's fine. Not everyone drives the lap formation at the same time and next to each other

Hi AndaleO, there are two ways you can choose how the race starts. 1) All start together when the first car crosses the start line. 2) Each car class starts one after another with a time gap in between. For example all gt3 cars start then 5 seconds later all gt2 cars start. Hope that helps, thanks. (I will make a YouTube video to show the app working soon)

hey nuzzi, Before I buy the rolling start app, I would like to know if you have edited the startup process? So that not everyone sets off at the same time but car by car

Ah ok, yeah I have supported up to CSP 0.2.2 currently. It appears there are a number of AI related changes in CSP 0.2.3 which I will support once it is fully released as it looks like a number of my apps will need updating. I will update the Shop page to let everyone know!

Unfortunately, still have the same errors from my comment on v1.5. Unable to get the app to work. Tried with releaseInClassOrder enabled and disabled but still no luck.
