I see SIMPing as dangerous habit/behavior. When men in particular do that, they may not even realize what their doing could be hurtful to themselves or others. In such a case, it might come as a shock when they find out their feelings aren't returned, and it's likely to cause emotional distress. If they do realize it, they're simply ignoring reality in favor of pursuing a fantasy. In either case, when the illusion is shattered, someone ends up getting hurt. That's why it's important set limits for yourself when interacting with people you might otherwise be attracted to. Be they friends, e-girls, waifus, or adult workers.
