Lore: Raziel city (part 1)

The city of Raziel was the other major city that survived the cataclysm. Eminently older and much larger, it protected itself from the devastating ravages of war as best it could. The city's subsoil is composed of countless bunker tunnels that allowed the city to rise from the ashes stronger and faster than expected. Although many didn't survive the incident, the big bosses and those who lacked scruples and humanity, didn't hesitate to use any type of resource within their reach to survive.

From this event, a hegemon emerged that absorbed refugees, criminals and low-income people willing to work anywhere and for minimum wage. Even if it isn't a technological or industrial power, Raziel has a very extensive network of services. It's a supplier of materials (recycling), it has the largest transport and distribution fleets, it owns almost all the large subsidiaries due to its economically permissive legislation, and it's the largest creator of entertainment today. To a lesser extent, mafias and the underground economy are also part of its structural network.

Unlike St. Gabriel, it's a cruel but self-sufficient city. Its crime rates are higher than any other region and the police have a reputation for being corrupt and not doing their job. Living here involves obvious risks, but many prefer it to the factories of the Base, or the exploitation of St. Gabriel and the risks of irregular migration. Apparently they have a viable democratic system, but the reality is that politics has been in the hands of the same family for almost a century.

One of the reasons why Raziel expands much larger and more extensive than any other region is because of its garbage dump, which has become a city within the city itself. Not even the authorities are usually in charge of the affairs of this area, which is governed by its own inhabitants. Most of them are recyclers. They dismantle appliances and sell the components to all kinds of people. The dump is divided into sectors. It's easy to find whatever you are looking for, however dangerous and strange it may be. The residents of this area know better than anyone the amount of objects and treasures that we are capable of throwing away.

The relationship of the demons with this region has a connection more intrinsic than ideological. It was here that they settled, where they blended in with its peoples and made it an extension of their own possessions. Unlike angels, demons aren't particularly interested in extending their beliefs. They prefer to have control of some important companies such as the most popular television channel in town or be a shareholder of a powerful multinational pharmaceutical company, than to gain followers. They know the nature of human beings much better and therefore they have integrated among them until they are indistinguishable. Even so, their church remains a symbol for their own community and for the ego of the supernatural.

La ciudad de Raziel fue la otra gran urbe que sobrevivió al cataclismo. Eminentemente más antigua y mucho más grande, se protegió de los devastadores estragos de la guerra como pudo. El subsuelo de la ciudad está compuesto por infinidad de túneles-búnker que permitieron a la urbe resurgir de sus cenizas con más fuerza y rapidez de lo esperado. Aunque muchos no sobrevivieron al incidente, los grandes patrones y los que carecían de escrúpulos y humanidad, no dudaron en usar cualquier tipo de recurso a su alcance para subsistir.

De este evento, resurgió un hegemón que absorbió refugiados, delincuentes y personas de bajos recursos dispuestas a trabajar en cualquier parte y por el sueldo mínimo. Aún si no es una potencia tecnológica, ni industrial, Raziel cuenta con una red de servicios muy extensa. Es proveedor de materias (reciclaje), tiene las mayores flotas de transporte y distribución, le pertenecen casi todas las filiales grandes debido a sus legislaciones permisivas económicamente y es el mayor creador de entretenimiento actual. En menor medida, las mafias y la economía sumergida también son parte de su tejido estructural.

A diferencia de St. Gabriel, es una ciudad cruel, pero autosuficiente. Sus tasas de delincuencia son mayores que las de cualquier otra región y la policía tiene fama de ser corrupta y no hacer su trabajo. Vivir aquí implica riesgos evidentes, pero muchos lo prefieren a las fábricas de la Base o a la explotación de St. Gabriel y los riesgos de la migración irregular. Aparentemente tienen un sistema democrático viable, pero la realidad es que la política está en manos de la misma familia desde hace casi un siglo.

Una de las razones por las que Raziel se expande mucho más grande y extensa que cualquier otra región es debido a su basurero, el cuál se ha convertido en una ciudad dentro de la propia ciudad. Ni siquiera las autoridades suelen encargarse de los asuntos de esta zona, que está regida por sus propios habitantes. En su mayoría se dedican al reciclaje. Desmontan aparatos y venden los componentes a todo tipo de personas. El basurero, está dividido en sectores. Es fácil encontrar lo que busques por peligroso y extraño que pueda ser. Los habitantes de esta zona saben mejor que nadie la cantidad de objetos y tesoros que somos capaces de tirar.

La relación de los demonios con esta región tiene una conexión más intrínseca que ideológica. Fue aquí donde se asentaron, donde se me mezclaron con sus gentes y los que hicieron de ella una extensión de sus propias posesiones. A diferencia de los ángeles, a los demonios no les interesa especialmente extender sus creencias.  Prefieren tener el control de algunas empresas importantes como el canal de televisión más popular de la ciudad o ser accionista de una multinacional farmacéutica poderosa, que la de ganar adeptos. Conocen mucho mejor la naturaleza de los seres humanos y por ello se han integrado entre ellos hasta ser indistinguibles. Aún así, su Iglesia sigue siendo un símbolo para su propia comunidad y para el ego de los sobrenaturales.
