Binaural beats: It's an auditory phenomenon in which two audio tones played at different frequencies and entered separately into the brain (one through the left ear and the other through the right), are perceived as low-frequency pulsations or beats.
Note: Headphones or properly separated stereo speakers are recommended to listen to binaural beats.
Isochronic beats: Though similar to binaural beats in the sense that they can produce a beat in the same range of frequencies, isochronic beats differ because they are composed of single pulses of sound at the desired frequency with the beats made outside the brain.
Note: Headphones are not required for entrainment to be effective.
Both Binaural and Isochronic beats influence the brain into different states through the entrainment of brainwaves. The human brain has a natural tendency to change its dominant frequency towards the frequency of a dominant external stimulus.
Our brain works in five main frequency ranges here are the four that I use in my files.
Delta 4 Hz or less, Deep dreamless sleep, loss of body awareness
Theta4-7 Hz, Dreams, deep meditation, REM sleep
Alpha 7-13 Hz, Relaxation (while awake), pre-sleep and pre-wake drowsiness
Beta13-40 Hz, Active, busy or anxious thinking and active concentration, arousal, cognition
