When you mentioned the Stoned Ape Theory, I instantly smiled. My man AG knows about Terence McKenna. 😁 I knew I became a Patreon for a reason

I believe that the quest to discover the meaning of life has a basis in our general need of Validation. The meaning validates the course of action that we take during life. In my opinion, the lack of “connectedness” correlates to the disillusionment most have with faith in an entity greater than ourselves.
Yet people snicker when you start explaining the universe and claim its silly....smh.

Our brain is analytical. It tries to make sense of everything it experiences. To understand. Pattern recognition machine.
The more person suffers the more he needs meaning for his suffering. There is variance to this, but general tendency holds. It is some basic psychological mechanism akin to cognitive dissonance. Possibly there is name to it already. It is helping the person to endure. Otherwise his genes didn’t pass on. Survival was tough. Suffering was everyday reality. Therefore our brain evolved this self-relieving pathway, this make-believe capacity, in order to pass genes more successfully.
We are not important. Genes are selfish.

I really resonate with this video, I really enjoy taking a theory and "going off the deep end" with it in my head. Also, now I have a bunch of new topics to binge on Youtube lol

I also always try to make sense of any Behaviour or cultural traditions in an Evolutionary sense. I always thought i'm the only weird one who is thinking of this and then felt stupid about my theories.

“He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” Nietzsche. I think, it's a mental prop for endurance.
