The acceptable way is to stay within reason. For example, she has no control over men initiating conversation. But she does have control of her responses. If she gives open ended responses, a guy looking to get closer to her will use that to continue the interaction. I'll give you an example; I was out with a group. A girl and I were the first ones there. So I chatted her up. I thought she was interesting and pretty. So naturally I spoke to her with the intent to possibly ask her out one on one. She was very nice, pleasant and all that. But didn't answer in a way that allowed me to ask more personal questions. Later on, I found out she had a boyfriend. She was never rude or cold or any of that, but she also didn't leave the door open so to speak for me to push further. I have no hard feelings. She didn't have to be mean and her bf, if he ever found out about the interaction wouldn't have reason to believe she disrespected their relationship. Admittedly, an extraordinarily attractive women would have to do that much more often and I can understand why it would be tiresome. But the concept is the same, if the girl values her relationship, she should be considerate of her partner's feelings. Same as the man in a relationship.
