Jack, I was wondering if you could do a follow up to this lesson. What a guitar player should know to consider themselves an intermediate player. Maybe what they should be focusing on in order to get to the next level.

2023-07-29 16:02:17 +0000 UTCIt's all useful but knowing the interval relationships is definitely a must. Note names are great for communicating with other musicians but I definitely think in terms of interval numbers.

Do you also recommend memorizing the intervalic relationships of the root, third, and fifth for each triad shape to be able to easily locate a target chord tone, eg say the third, when playing a solo? Should we also strive to commit all the chord tone note names to memory… or are intervalic relationships and triad shapes sufficient? I’m trying to understand the most efficient manner in which to practice. Thanks again!
