MP3, Tab, and New Series Announcement
Added 2019-02-05 15:25:44 +0000 UTCI have some important and fun news for you all in this post, so make sure you read all the way through!
First- By request, I've attached the tablature (powertab form and pdf) for the rhythm guitar parts in Red Lined my metal song I wrote for the game "Cant Drive This" by Pixel Maniacs. The song can be heard here
Secondly, I've also attached the mp3 of the 2 minute section of polymetric metal layering that was showcased in my last video on truncated polymeters.
But LASTLY and most importantly, I've finally settled on a repeatable series that will tie into the streaming I'm starting next week and I NEED your help.
The series is called Pimp My Riff. I want you to submit your unfinished riffs, patterns, progressions, melodies, whatever it may be. I'm looking for small pieces of music or riffs, under 30 seconds of recording or written music. From there I'll add in layers of instrumentation to your riffs, and tweak things to my liking while describing while I've made the changes and where I might go to next (or do before).
I think it'll be a good way to show you all that sometimes your music just needs a little complimentary instrumentation, or a simple structural edit to really make it shine, and I think it would be a lot of fun doing this work while hopefully improving upon your unfinished ideas.
When you submit your riff, you agree to have it broadcast on Twitch if I choose it as one of the riffs to build on, and also to have it featured on my YouTube channel in a single video without disputing it's copyright . Besides those two instances, you will still retain all rights to whatever music you're sending me, and I'm giving you the rights to any musical ideas, changes, and recordings that I make out of your original riff.
Want to be a part of the series?
-Submit your riffs to pimpmyriff@gmail.com (mp3 preferred)
-Do NOT worry about the quality of your riff since it will likely be re-recorded.
-include a paragraph or two describing what you're sending, i.e. naming the chords heard, or describing the time signature if it's odd, etc.
-ANY INSTRUMENT is fine! Bass, keys, vocals, guitar, dulcimer- anything goes!
-Keep the riff/melody/progression short (under 30 seconds)
-include a way to credit you in the videos (name, pseudonym, etc)
I'm hoping to do the first livestreaming composition/production session with your riffs on Monday, so please submit whatever you can. I'm putting the call out to you all before I mention this on twitter to make sure I hear your submissions first.
EDIT: If you want your actual perfomance/recording used, it will have to be done to a click track and you will need to include the BPM in your email.
