New Modulation / Key Change Video is up!
Added 2019-07-25 12:00:03 +0000 UTCHey everyone, after FIVE ATTEMPTS (that means four failures) at filming my modulations video I finally finished it and was able to post it this morning!
I’ve got some videos to film for some of you high-tier patrons tomorrow and will also slate the time to do a follow-up for this modulations video so I can touch on some topics I left out. This is another video that got copy-right claimed before it even was posted (seriously!) so I want to just remind you how much your support actually means- if I were reliant on YT revenue alone, I’d be making serious changes to my videos and I think that would significantly lower the quality of the lesson. I’d also be rushing to get them done before they’re even complete so I can appease the algorithm. So again, thank you, and I hope you enjoy this one!

Don't know how I missed this question but it's a great one! I'll be doing a whole video on relative modulations to follow up on this one. That's a good example of a strict relative major/minor shift, a lot of pop and rock songs will have a verse in A minor but choruses in C Major. In more adventurous styles, you often hear relative minor to relative phryian (especially in metal), or relative major to relative Lydian. Check out Boys of Summer by Don Henley- theres a verse, chorus, and bridge, that all have three different modal feels (minor, major, and lydian), yet the key never actually changes- just the tonal center!
