Stuff that I am doing - 13/04/18

Kay, few things to show you. First up I've finished my next two Black Mirror season 4 videos, you can go watch them here:

Hang the DJ - https://youtu.be/wSmnqZqxNm0

Metalhead - https://youtu.be/2EHWDwC5jBs

I'm not gonna put them on general release until later in the month. I'm doing this because as I've mentioned several times I have some bigger projects lined up and I wanna get ahead of myself and do prep work so I can release more videos in quicker succession. I'll put Black Museum on here when I've finished it, probably in the next blog post.

That and something I'm now working on that's been in the pipeline for a while: Council of Geeks and I have agreed to do a collab video. Expect that to show up at some stage :)

Anyway I've had to rejig my schedule a bit because I've decided to totally change the approach to the Chibnall video. As you may know, I've been rewatching old Chris Chibnall Torchwood episodes with Jon, Billy and Richard of 5wf (hi guys!) and my thinking is that I make this video by intercutting clips of our commentary on the episodes alongside my review of each of them in chronological order. We've done Day One and Cyberwoman and have scheduled Countrycide for next weekend. I've wanted like a superlong video on my channel for a while because I've noticed a lot more videos I watch these days are quite long and that I watch in fractions over the course of several days, I really enjoyed that video about Sherlock by Hbomberguy that was about an hour and 45 minutes. I'd like a video on my channel that's around an hour or so and this seems to fit the bill.

So yeah I'm pushing the Chibnall video back to like July or something so I can organise viewings so I've got clips to splice in....the sadistic part of me is looking forward to getting Richard to watch Countrycide again :p

While I'm on the commentary videos, apparently the Day one video got blocked on dailymotion because of copyright, that was why it didn't work. And I tried youtube a few times with varying filters over the screen but it kept getting blocked immediately as soon as it was uploaded. Did the Google drive thing work for everyone who wanted to watch it in the end? Cause everytime I've tried clicking on it on various browsers (logged out and with the link of course) its played on a youtube player for me, so I dunno if maybe I'm just gonna have to go with that given the scarcity of options as Dailymotion's now busted and vimeo charges you for massive videos. I might have to offer it as an mp3 file as well in case anyone wants to just put the DVD on an play the commentary if you're working with limited download speed....thaaat and Google drive has a 15gb limit. Any recommendations on how to fix this problem will be welcomed with a THANKYOUOHCHRISTTHANKYOU!!! from me.

So my last two videos for April will be Hang the DJ and Metalhead, and then this is my lineup for May (may be subject to change):

Stubagful Reviews: Black Mirror: Black Museum

He Who Moans Reviews: Doctor Who: The Eighth Doctor: The Time War 1

Why Inside no. 9 is Awesome + Top 10 Episodes

Tv Dissection: Little Britain

I've got the Little Britain script almost finished, and most of my Inside no 9 one. Still need to listen to the Time War 1 so I'm probably gonna do that over the course of the week. My Last Adventure review only took me just over a week to finish in the end, which I was surprised by at the time as Bigfinish videos tend to take fucking ages. (Oh yeah someone remind me I still need to order a copy of the Tenth Doctor Adventures volume 2 as I've been putting that off for a while now)

In short story news, I'm still waiting on some submission responses for Haunted Machine, He Died as he lived, Digital Purgatory and Sympathy for the Disease. I've been batting a few more ideas round but they're a bit deformed at the moment. One of them came out of my girlfriend and I going exploring an abandoned sewer the other weekend which was fun, and I just started musing on this idea about a pair of robots going exploring an abandoned factory after humans have long died out, and they see posters and instructions for the machines on the walls and talk about them like they're cave paintings. I'd quite like to include just that image as part of my Broken Systems project somehow, I'm just unsure what angle to come in at it from.

Anyway, that's your lot for now. Happy Friday everyone :)

Comments

I'm looking at the upgrade thing - apparantly if I want 100gb its £1.49 a month. Might end up doing that and rotating the Patreon commentary videos on there until I can come up with another solution

Day One worked for me through Google Drive after downloading it. Although yeah, if you were to just do the audio for your commentaries for episodes, it could work better for your GDrive storage (although it would mean the people listening might have to source the episodes from somewhere if they don't own them). If you have an Android phone and haven't used Google Drive on there, it might be worth trying because Google sometimes gives an extra 100GB of storage randomly (I got my phone two years ago, and this time last year I went on the app and got told I was being given the 100GB for buying a new phone, even though it was a year old at that point). P.S. You still need to buy a copy of The Tenth Doctor Adventures Volume 2 (although you could wait a while and combine the video with one on this month's Tenth Doctor Chronicles, if you wanted to).
