New He Who Moans video & more

Hi everyone

So, y'know how I said six weeks ago that I was ready to come back and make videos more regularly again? Well that's finally happened!! Yeah woo!! Well, subject to change of course, yeah with my mental health a bit all over the place, things are always subject to change.

First up: I finished a new He Who Moans video, an editorial venting my frustrations with Doctor Who at the moment. Originally I was gonna call it "How Chris Chibnall's Doctor Who killed my enthusiasm" but that's a bit overdramatic and clickbaity and not totally representative of the video's intent. Still not sure if I'm gonna go with the title it currently has....given I plan on releasing it tomorrow, I should probably get on that.

Anyway so that's going up on the channel proper on Monday. Then on Halloween, obviously we've got Class 10 - I'm probably gonna do that thing where I make my twitter into the living flesh supercomputer again just for fun. The video's finished and here on drive if you wanna have a look at it. Its a bit shorter than the last two but I'm pretty happy with it. Glad I did it.

Anyway I think I've figured out how I'm gonna work on videos going forward. I needed to re-evaluate my schedule and restructure in a way that my channel doesn't rule my life so what I'm gonna do is: I can write a video at any point when the mood takes me, but I'm only going to draw, edit, record and finish videos in the first two weeks of the month. I have 2 weeks of consistent video production, stop, then upload the results over the rest of the month. I need a rota where I don't get too obsessed with getting a video done and out as soon as possible, I want a more laid back approach to my channel going forward and I think this works - gives me time to myself to organise my thoughts, work on mental health, AND cover topics on the channel that I want to cover. I may not get as much done, but the channel won't rule my life that way.

I do feel I was working in a very Channel Awesome way of expecting myself to get videos done and out there just for the hell of it rather than because I actually had something to say (did any of you see Quinton reviews' latest video on channel awesome? God that was so relatable for me cause I basically have his exact story)

Anyway so I'm gonna test out this new approach in November. I'm gonna work on videos and see how many I can get done in 2 weeks, then take a step back. I have the following ideas:

Bigfinish's Legacy of Time - I'm about halfway through listening and scripting - I doubt this will be a November video, more likely December.

Bojack Horseman season 6 part 1 - I have a lot of thoughts alright but I'm unsure if I should wait till part 2's out so I can give my thoughts on the final season as a whole - I'll decide later.

Brexit video 2 - I have been compiling a script over the last 9 months and its sort of done - I only have the last few months that are a bit messy cause wow the last few months have been insane. I will probably do this directly after halloween cause public opinion's probably gonna massively shift again when they realise Boris has fucked it up.

The Thick of it TV Dissection - I ended up bingewatching it again and watching the Thick of it now in a post-brexit referendum world is incredibly interesting - ended up writing a 6-7 min video on it - probably pretty easy to do, so this'll almost certainly be a November video.

An editorial on Netflix's "you didn't promote it" problem - Tuca and Bertie's cancellation really pissed me the fuck off and I ended up writing a 10-12 minute editorial on the topic cause its becoming a regular occurrence and Netflix doesn't seem to be learning from its mistakes - i've finished the script but its probably a December one because its not a time-sensitive video)

Also I bought Chernobyl on DVD (to rip footage off of) - I haven't watched it yet, probably December.

And I think this year instead of a Blunt TV guide (because TV is a dying/dead medium) - I think I'll call it "Blunt Christmas streaming guide" and expand to stuff you can watch on Netflix, amazon and whatever else is there.

I've also floated the idea to Billy, Richard and Jon of watching one of the old Dr who Christmas specials together and putting together a mini-snuggly-review thing in the vein of the massive Chibbers video from 2018.

So yeah, I'd like to do these things. If I don't get time though, hell there's always later, right?

In other news, I've been chatting to Rob a lot more recently. Its still surreal to me that I seem to have become close friends with my favourite writer. I've asked and he says he's up for coming on the channel at some point for a chat about classic who and other things.

Rob's been encouraging me to write more personal stuff and I've started doing that. I've had an idea for a new collection of weird stories called "Sexual Fantasies for Horrible People" - I've got a few stories so far in this vein that are bleak heavy horror stories that involve sex in some way but that judge the reader if they find the content erotic. Its a long journey I'm on, certain of that, but I feel I'm writing it for the right reasons and Rob really liked the story from it that I sent him.

Anyway, that's all my news.

Happy Sunday everyone.

Gonna wait on that new Class video (or try to). Halloween is right around the corner. The temptation is real.

WB, Stu! Speaking of Bojack s6, I only just learned about it via your post. My backlog is so insanely packed I'll probably miss the window to watch it before your review. C'est la vie. It's good to have you back making videos and writing again. Cheers!
