Makkora + WIPs

It looks like I’ll be sharing more full pictures and WIPs in the coming days, more than usual. Even though I’m working very few hours a day (due this annoying pain threatening to come back, which is also why I haven’t been very active on Telegram (it hurts a bit to type) ), I’ve managed to keep making progress. I’m slowly catching up on things, including some pieces I’ve owed for more than two years on Patreon. I’m really sorry for being so slow with that! But yeah, it’s little by little, with lots of breaks.

On another note, I’ve been sick :(
Since December 30th, I’ve been feeling a bit weak. It started with a fever, but I felt slightly better the next day, so I thought I was fine. I even went to a small New Year’s celebration with some friends. However, things got worse on January 1st. The arm pain, as I mentioned in my last post, came back, and it really scared me. Not long after posting that journal, my body started feeling even worse: weakness, cough, and general discomfort.

The cough hasn’t stopped since then, and for the first time ever, I’ve experienced what it’s like to lose my sense of taste. It was so sad that I had been craving pozole, since when I was in China I said that the first thing I wanted to eat back to Mexico was pozole, and when I finally got to eat it, it tasted like nothing. Roni told me it was delicious and smelled amazing, but I couldn’t even smell it. That’s when I realized this might be...covid D: D: D:

Now I’m staying isolated and only allowing myself a few hours of drawing each day. Those hours have been pretty productive, though! The rest of my time has been spent watching movies or series I hadn’t seen yet and doing light exercise (at a very slow pace, since my throat doesn’t let me push too hard).

What a way to start the year!

Despite everything, I can show you the progress I’ve made recently. I’ve been working on some drawings for Suka as part of a long-overdue reward. I’ve also started sketching a commission that will be done in watercolors. And lastly, I’ve made progress on the first page of Art & Biro Chapter 2. Looking at it now, there are a few things I’d like to change in those sketches of that page before moving forward.

Everything is moving at a slow pace, but at least I feel like I’m being productive. Oh, and I also finished the picture I mentioned in my last post! Here’s the description for that one:

Makkora

Makkora, the bird barbarian boy, charges into battle despite his wounds, collecting unexpected strength and energy thanks to the aid of his ancestral guardians. These spirits not only empower him in combat but also protect him from harm. Among them are ancestors from an ancient time when his species had only wings and no hands, reminder of his lineage.

This piece was created for a charity auction and donated to Nutrias de México, an initiative dedicated to the scientific study and conservation of otters in Mexico.

Attached is the full time-lapse process video, feel free to download it if you'd like to check it out! :D
