Excavation reports
Added 2020-12-14 08:16:22 +0000 UTCEach Time Team dig was followed by a post-excavation assessment report, which provides more detail on the site, the finds and the wider context they are placed in. Producing these reports is an integral part of every dig and a reminder that Time Team was always much more than simply pure entertainment alone.
For many years, we worked very closely with the team at Wessex Archaeology who produced the reports, and we're proud to have contributed to archaeological record in this way.
Look out for site-specific report links in the video description of our episode commentaries on the Time Team Official YouTube channel. You can also find a selection of Wessex Archaeology reports here: https://www.wessexarch.co.uk/our-work/time-team
We'll be talking about the role of reporting with our experts a lot more on Patreon in due course, so please watch this space!

2021-02-22 16:51:27 +0000 UTCI have stumbled across a few of these reports in the past, usually while searching for information on an episode I was thinking about. They are amazing to look through and really show how much work went into each trench behind the scenes. When Phil says something like "We'll be finishing up this trench then moving on", it doesn't at all hint at the work that went into documenting that trench!

2020-12-14 19:01:01 +0000 UTCDo you already have a list of potential sites to investigate? I know it might not be possible due to the cost, but I would like to suggest a site in Germany. Please let me know if this would be possible.

2020-12-14 15:42:08 +0000 UTCI am so glad that Time Team is coming back. I wish I could contribute more but there are limits to a pension. Can I suggest a site to investigate? If it is not already on your list I commend Nick Austin's evidence of Crowhurst being the site of the Battle of Hastings.

2020-12-14 12:29:23 +0000 UTCFor me, Time Team was an education in Archeology dressed up as entertainment... and even if it was officially the other way round, I always arrived wiser at the end of every episode! Being the Time Team such professionals and enthusiasts, I'm not surprised by the incredible amount of work put on the post-excavation reports... All the best from Portugal!
