Hello Tim, I am so glad that Time Team will exist again; Thank You! I have often wondered what happened to the site investigated by TT after the camera's had completed their roles. I was so pleased to know that others often take over the sites to continue what TT started. Can you tell us if there are any media routes to the work carried out on sites after TT had left, or, is it possible that we would be able to see TT return show the ongoing work started by them. That would be fascinating. Many thanks Tim. Mike

More interactive content: have a lottery amongst patreon members for a certain number of volunteer slots for each dig, and have the volunteer(s) make a video diary to add to subscriber content.

Some more ideas; is having patreon members submit questions post viewing a completed new episode which a commentary video could follow up the dig with those community/Patreon questions asked. If there is a flood of questions then why not put the best 20 into a poll and patreon members could vote for what they think is the best question and then pick the top 10. This would give a feeling of community involvement even if you live halfway around the world. Lastly, my final idea is what about producing a video on how viewers at home if they do happen to live in a very old house who might want to dig up their backyard- how they can go about it, some of the basic methods etc. And perhaps even encourage some to take pictures of any findings and put the up on this site. I am sure some might be keen to give it ago.

Sounds good. Will there be an artist included in the team to draw the imaginative site or building? i always found that to be the cherry on top with the TT episodes. I hope there will be some behind the scenes videos of the planning and discussions that will go on that we only saw a glimpse of in TT. These could be separate videos for those not interested in viewing them. Also a longer interview with historians that are called in, could elaborate a little more like a lecture which would also be a separate video for those who would be interested to learn more. These type of things would enhance viewing and would never fit a television format because of advertisement slots and keeping the pacing of the episode etc. Other bonus material would be perhaps speed up video of the digs (per trench) a go-pro isn't too expensive and good imagery and waterproof etc.

Roman Roman Roman, I love anything Roman you may have guess

Exciting to see Time Team coming back right when I have just (almost??) seen every episode from the original!! One thing I love is the variety of eras and places Time Team covers, and I also like Time Signs and that Time Team History Hunters series, and the discussion episodes with historians I have found online. The age of the different programs does not make them lose anything, just adds another fun "time traveling" dimension to watching. Anything that shows competing interpretations of a site and actually shows good arguments for and against each (rather than leaving it purely up to personal preference and speculation) would be my main request. Hearing about the interpretation work and seeing how professionals arrive at the conclusions that make it to our textbooks. Thanks for the update & happy to hear about even more people getting involved.

Lighten up !

Is there any chance of this being take up by a TV channel in the future?

I discovered Time Team by accident on YouTube, and have watched many old episodes that're available across various channels there. I'm afraid I'm on a bit of a Time Team binge....and I'm happy to join the Patreon from the USA. I'm really excited to see more of the original team members at Tea Time after the newly released classics. And even moreso, for new projects and works. I always learn something interesting and new about history! <3

Kay Theriault

I'm excited to have found this, I always remember watching Time Team so it's really amazing that now I can directly support it!

Thank you for your response, we are all very eager to reach the goal to bring back this amazing program!

Bart Remeeus

Hi Bart, thanks for this, it's a good point! We're working on a few measures to make the linking back to Patreon more visible and accessible across our various channels, which you'll see being introduced on YouTube.

Happy New Year. I am looking forward to what 2021 will bring for Time Team

Whatever sites are chosen I just have one request.....no more cleavage and ass crack shots please.....let's leave those to Benny Hill reruns

Indeed you are right, that would be a lot more on the satire side than on tasteful historical liberties - by Time Team standards! There is a thin red line to be thread between education and entertainment... Being Portuguese I always admired you guys for elegant extravagance and a unique sense of humor, something about a playful self-awareness that is exquisite and unique to the British Isles. Time Team always delivered in my book in both education and plain old fun, but I must agree with you: I got carried away! :)

Exciting.

Would be a bit difficult for a Stone Age or other pre-Historic site when we don't know what they wore or what they spoke. And I dread to think what some of them would do if we gave them free reign to use their imaginations.

Phelim McIntyre

So exciting to see things moving forward. I look forward to seeing where it takes us. Should also like to add that I’ve appreciate the move to Vimeo from YouTube for your updates.

Graham Dombkins

I have a youtube subscription, so don't see the ads. So did not know how many ads there are. However I appreciate how annoying they can be,

Eric Johnson

So exciting! Loving this.

Bron Lloyd

Perhaps turn down the adverts on those shows as well, they are unwatchable on the official channel here. Rather have fewer adverts and ask people here to watch one or two through and then you will receive the revenue. Right now I personally avoid the official channel for this reason.

Gary Mortimer

Looking forward to the future! Thank You

Daved Sandefur

We should say the same for you Tim. These are exciting times, but also troubled times. Stay safe.

Robert Boudreau

Some more active advertisement on youtube might be needed to reach the goal as i have seen many reactions of people who say they missed the patreon announcements. perhaps have a message in the video description to guide them here having a one sentence summary of what the goal of patreon for time team will be.

Bart Remeeus

Great words for these troubled times: Β«When we work together there is no limit to what we can accomplishΒ»! May the present look to the past respectfully with the eyes of History, drinking there the inspiration of great deeds but also learning the lessons of so many wrongs and pains. In the end, the present is cursed to become the past with each heartbeat and to look ever to the future with a secret hope. The hope of what? Well, to be someday unearthed by a good-natured Time Team Archeologist! Here's to the Time Team speedy return and to seeing that site list: the show being a mixture of History and Entertainment, let's get the apologetics for each dig site by the respective professional/champion β€” dressed in costume and speaking the language of the period (with blackletter subtitles) :) Best from Portugal!

David Gabriel

can you not put a Patreon link overlay on the TT youtube videos you are releasing (not throughout), but of course it would need to be hardcoded (I think), and dated when the Patreon closes. If it was not for watching a "live" stream chat I would not have known about the new initiative.

Eric Johnson

Thank you for the update, Tim! I am really looking forward to hearing the team members pitching their favourite sites! :) I am trying to help fans find the Patreon page, and I have noticed that the URL to Patreon is not active in the video descriptions (at least some I've checked). Make sure to include the "http://" bit in front of the whole address in order for Youtube to make it an active link. Having it active - and preferably high up in the description - will likely lead to more clicks and more supporters :) Also, the Patreon link is missing from the Time Team Official "about" page on Youtube , and on the Classic page its just a dead URL (not sure if adding "http://" will activate it on this page, though). All the best and stay safe!

Thanks, Tim for the update! Keep on, keeping on :-)
