Site Wrestle (Producers): Neolithic Long Barrow
Added 2021-02-25 08:41:00 +0000 UTCIt's time for another Site Wrestle as Tim 'n' Jim turn to the Neolithic long barrow that the Originals recently sparred over. There's a great story to be told, as a result of both antiquarian interest and the surrounding land's more recent use as a WWII US airbase. But is that reason enough to take it on?
Is it best to leave the site undisturbed for future generations? Alternatively, perhaps Time Team might carry out vital work to get the site scheduled and hence safeguard its future.
It's a site with huge potential, but can that potential be realised with the resources available? Let us know what you think.

I've always liked the episodes where they were like, "well why are we here??" because why should there need to be a reason to want to learn more about something, and then when they're able to look hard at the little they could determine, I feel it just really satisfyingly reflects the reality of the journey to knowledge that is not yet known, and even understanding just a tiny bit more than you did when you started helps to give you a sense of your time and place in the world as a whole. I love that Time Team episodes seemed to encourage people to find the extraordinary in the ordinary.
