More Classics are on the way!

And now for some good news... we're delighted to announce that we'll be returning to our Time Team Classics schedule with more great episodes from the vaults on Sundays and Wednesdays.

We're kicking things off this Easter Sunday 4th April, with a cracking episode filmed in Wales. We'll also be joined by Helen Geake for our exclusive episode commentary on the Time Team Official YouTube channel.

More details to follow very soon.

PLEASE NOTE:

We often get asked which episodes are available in particular regions, and why someone may not be able to find or access a specific episode on their local services. The simple answer is... it's complicated!

Time Team was originally commissioned by Channel 4 in the UK, with the first of 20 series (plus countless specials and spin-offs) airing in 1994. In the ensuing years, Time Team's popularity saw the programme exported to around 35 countries worldwide, via various networks and broadcasters.

As a result, there are existing regional licensing agreements in place that determine who has the rights to distribute any particular series and hence which local platforms and services it might be available on. Some select series and episodes are available on Amazon Prime, other streaming services and networks. Ultimately, availability will depend on the local distributor and circumstances.

In the UK, Series 1-8 and 10-11 (almost 100 episodes) are available on Channel 4's on-demand service: https://www.channel4.com/programmes/time-team/episode-guide

Since last December, we have made 28 episodes from Series 12 to 16 officially available worldwide on the Time Team Classics YouTube channel for free, with more to follow from Sunday 4th April onwards. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to make these available in Australia, again due to an existing licensing agreement. We understand the frustration of this and are looking into resolutions. In the meantime, our Australian fans can access all of the content on the Time Team Official YouTube channel and, of course, the exclusives on Patreon.

Ultimately, we want all fans to have access to Time Team wherever you are, and we're busy making more episodes available to more people across the world. We'll also be providing greater clarity on exactly what is available where.

It's an ongoing task, so thanks for bearing with us and showing your support!

Today I managed to catch the end of "Premiere" streaming of the Queenborough episode and see the chat. I think it would be helpful to post a link to the commentary there right before the end of the episode and everyone signing off, because apparently many people don't read the description and so never watch the commentary or even know it exists.

Thanks for thinking about us Aussies in all this. Let's hope sensible heads prevail and an arrangement can be sorted out to allow us to join the rest of you in viewing parties.

Lovely news thank you!! it has been a long drought between Time Team episodes for me so this makes me very happy :-)

Thanks Stephen. We're pleased to say that the new episodes we're working on are not affected by existing agreements in place for classic content. In other words, yes – Australian fans will be able to see the two new digs.

It would be great to have the episodes available on Patreon (another Australian here). Very disappointing not to be able to access them.

Big thank you to the team for responding to the concerns about licencing, specifically here with Australians (myself) :-) It is nice to hear you are all looking at making things available at some stage once other agreements terminate potentially. I do hope that as Patreon members we will have access to the new episodes although this is still unclear to me.

The Classics are why I'm here, this is great news!

Many happy returns!

Best birtday present! Thanks a lot! :)

I am also in Australia where this content is blocked on YouTube. As Patreon subscribers it would be great if content could be available on this platform. It becomes frustrating watching additional commentary on Patreon for episodes we can’t watch. I understand the licensing arrangements for old content but will the new episodes be freely available to everyone of YouTube or just on Patreon?

I live in Australia and even though I am "Time Team Digger Crew" I am not able to view Time Team videos on youtube, Geo Blocking?

About 280

I don't have a clue how many Time Team videos were made. It appears that the first year there may have been ten but 20 years times 10 a year is two hundred and I know that I've not seen that many posted on line? My best guess is that a lot of the videos have never been posted to YouTube. I'd like to see more of the ones I missed.

Can't wait!

Sweet. I love when there is an episode that I’ve missed. Can’t wait. πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Awesome! I have watched all the ones available from Timeline.

I have a rather strange question - what are the licensing terms for the episodes? It seems that quite a few large Youtube channels are publishing them - Timeline and Absolute History in particular - but channels of obviously "pirate" folks like Reijer Zaaijer are getting either shut down or at least removed from the Youtube search results. What's going on?
